The interview

What was your biggest challenge before joining Pinnacle Global Network?

My biggest challenge was simply not having a group of like-minded individuals around me. When you're founding and trying to grow a small business, most people are relying on you and you hit a point where you just don't know what to do next. You don't have that advisory board that most founders wish they had.

What specific changes have occurred at Plan North since joining?

The first is we've built a leadership team, which is amazing to see other people step into their own potential. The other monumental thing is we've moved from a company struggling with cash flow to a company that's asking itself what we are going to do with our reserves to grow our company.

How has the team responded to the new processes you've implemented?

We are two and a half years into Pinnacle and we have rolled out our big picture vision. The team is absolutely ecstatic to be part of that process; we even did a survey afterwards just to make sure that we captured exactly what they were saying. It was so rewarding.

What was your journey to becoming a member?

I actually stumbled upon the Scale or Fail book before anything else. I read it three times and marked it all up, then found out there was a whole network of people doing this process. I reached out but due to post-Covid cash flow issues we couldn't pull it off. Nine months later, we were in the exact same place, and I knew it was time to give it a shot.

What is your impression of the Pinnacle mentors?

The mentors lead by example. Their level of confidence and comfort with where they are in their own struggles and successes gives me confidence that I can do better. Their attitude and persona as a group is very inspiring to me.

What advice would you give to someone considering joining?

I would say you need to be in a place where you're open-hearted and open-minded because you will hear some things that sting a little bit, but they can also help you grow.

Frequently asked

Is Pinnacle Global Network worth the investment during cash flow issues?

Katie Burch initially delayed joining for nine months due to post-Covid cash flow issues. She eventually joined after realizing that without expert help, her business would remain in the exact same stagnant position year after year.

So before joining Pinnacle Global Network my biggest challenge in our business was just simply not having a group of like-minded individuals around me, so when you're founding and trying to grow a small business most of those people involved are relying on you and you hit a point where you just don't know what to do next and so you're researching and looking around and using whatever resources you can find but you don't have that advisory board that most founders wish that they had. My name is Katie Burch and I am the founder and owner of Plan North Architectural Company located just between Houston and Austin. So a couple of things have happened for Plan North since joining Pinnacle. The first of which is we've built a leadership team which is just so amazing to see other people step into their own potential so that's been just really rewarding. The other thing that has happened that's been pretty monumental is we've moved from a company that was struggling with cash flow and not really understanding how to work that out daily, monthly, yearly to a company that's asking itself what are we going to do with our reserves to grow our company. So, every time I would go to a Pinnacle event you go like you always go to a conference like you're ready to receive, you're ready to hear, be open hearted and learn something. B ut a couple of events ago on my way home, as the plane was landing I had this overwhelming picture of what I was bringing back like really what am I bringing back to our team like what am I supposed to do with this? And it was just like this sheer joy to be able to take all of those things and figure it out and bring it back to our team and one of the most important things that we've been working on and just have presented to our team is our big picture vision for our company and so we're two and a half years into Pinnacle and we have rolled out this process and the team is absolutely ecstatic to be part of that process, we even did a survey afterwards just to make sure that we captured exactly what they were saying. It was so rewarding. I've been a member of Pinnacle for two and a half years but I thought about joining the year prior and my experience is such that I actually stumbled upon the book before anything else in Pinnacle, I actually found the Scale or Fail book and I read it three times and I marked it all up and then I just kind of found out hey there's a whole network of people that are doing this process, I reached out and just due to post Covid and cash flow issues we just couldn't pull it off and about nine months later I thought about it again and we were exactly in the place where we were the year before and at that point I knew okay you've done what you can do, you've tried these are the skills that you have, it's time to give it a shot otherwise next year you'll be in the exact same place and so I would share that story with someone who's thinking about if this could help them grow their business, I will say need to be in a place where you're open hearted and open minded because you will hear some things sting a little bit but they can also help you grow. I would just say that by the mentors leading by example. Their level of confidence and comfort with where they are in their own struggles and successes gives me confidence that I can do better and just to be so grateful for where we're at. So I would just say the mentors, their attitude and their persona as a group is very inspiring to me.
