The interview

What was your first impression when you walked into SoliVana Wellness Spa?

It's just so welcoming. I feel like as soon as I walked in, I met Natasha, and immediately we got to talking and she was really curious about what could work for me. I just felt immediately like I was in good hands. These people really know what they're doing, they're really passionate about helping people, and I feel welcomed in a way that I've never really felt in a spa environment before.

What is your favorite service at the spa?

My favorite thing is the Float Tank. I feel like there's a way that I get to totally reset my nervous system. When I'm in the Float Tank, there is nothing else going on. It's the most restful rest that I've ever experienced.

How does the Float Tank impact your work as a software engineer?

If you're in a profession where creativity matters, you owe yourself to have your nervous system be able to have time to be totally free of all the constraints that we're used to having. Every time I come out of the Float Tank, I feel refreshed. Usually I have a couple ideas that popped into my head even if I was trying to meditate.

What physical benefits have you noticed from your sessions?

When you learn to relax everything, I feel like I am just generally recovering faster after a workout. I'm more resilient. I used to have not unfrequent back pain or just sort of like, 'Oh, I slept funny and now my neck is weird.' Since I've been going in the float tank, I haven't had that happen to me. Not once.

Were you hesitant about visiting a spa initially?

I was definitely hesitant about going to a spa for the first time. I was like, 'I don't know if this is for me.' When I actually went and spoke to the people there and how they think about healing, it actually felt like something that I needed in my life.

What would you say to others who feel they aren't 'spa people'?

Sometimes we get this idea in our head that 'this thing is not for me,' and we put ourselves in a box. The spa is designed to be a place where you can leave some of that stress and those preconceptions behind and get to know yourself, your body, and your mind a little bit better.
