The interview
What was missing in your professional life before joining Speakeasy Mastermind?
I was already connected with lots of people when I was traveling the world, but I was missing a consistent community where I can build with the same people and build deeper connections with consistently over time. I have been part of expensive masterminds where you fly to see the community once or twice a year, but what was missing was having people to actually build with every month and every weekend on a continuous basis.
Did you have any concerns or hesitations before joining?
Sometimes my concern was that business conferences can be kind of inauthentic, especially in Los Angeles. It's tough to find people who will talk a big game and then actually be about it. I wasn't sure if it was gonna be another one of those things. The biggest, beautiful surprise was that there are really amazing, high-caliber, authentic people who are dreamers and doers, living amazing results, and generously sharing their resources.
What was your experience like at the global gathering?
I remember going to the global gathering in Austin, Texas last year. The connections were such amazing, rich connections in every way possible. I like to call it 'soul family.' Some of those people, we still do business together. I'm thinking about Natasha and Akash; they're moving to Dubai now and I'm going to support them, doing events together and collaborations that feel like genuine care.
Can you share a specific example of a breakthrough or connection you made?
I remember meeting Waldo. He shared with me that he's doing $50,000 per keynote on a regular basis. I had this moment like in The Wolf of Wall Street where I felt like, 'you show me a check and I'll do what you're doing.' He showed me the receipts, how he's getting those deals, and his LinkedIn strategy. He actually took time after the event to take me behind the scenes on exactly how that works.
What is the most meaningful shift you've experienced since joining?
The most meaningful shift is having a consistent inbound group of people who are looking for my expertise and services. Especially as a chapter captain, I constantly have people introduced to me. In the past, it would be more like me going out to find new opportunities and create them that way. Now it's more like I get to filter the opportunities that are coming in.
Is the investment in Speakeasy Mastermind worth it?
It's completely worth it. If it is truly the right room for you, it's absolutely priceless and worth more than the price of admission. The value is absolutely insane and a no-brainer. Once you experience a dinner and meet the people, you know if these are your people. It's beyond worth it for the value of one relationship that is actually aligned.
