The interview

What do you like most about going to The WAE Clinic?

The thing that I like about going there the most is that she's looking at my whole body. There's so many symptoms that are connected that nobody's catching because nobody's looking at you from head to toe. I like that that's what she's doing. Very personal attention and I love that.

Can you tell us about your background and the health challenges you faced?

My name is Brenda Lyon. I'm actually a pharmacist by trade and I live in Glen Allan, Mississippi. I actually went through several, several years of trying to get a diagnosis for kind of a rare weird condition that had popped up. I went through the ringer. It took at least five years to get a diagnosis. By the time I got to WAE Clinic I had gotten a diagnosis but I only had, like, partial relief.

What specific symptoms were you struggling with before starting treatment?

I had a lot of problems with my feet. I could not exercise regularly, I could only exercise a couple of days a week because of pain and some of the other flare ups and problems that I had. Wearing socks and shoes were a problem for me.

How has your health changed since working with The WAE Clinic?

Now I'm walking every day, I'm getting exercise. Wearing socks and shoes were a problem for me, I have no problem with that now. I am getting much healthier and her nutritional approaches have helped all my inflammation a lot. It took me from having just, like, some relief to feeling like it's almost gone.

How does the clinic's approach to inflammation differ from traditional medicine?

Looking at, not just medicating the problem but what other things that you're doing could be causing inflammation. That's been a big change for me and has helped me a lot. Now I actually have little flare ups here and there but for the most part I feel pretty good and that's a huge change.

What is the patient experience like during a typical visit?

When you go there, there's usually nobody else in the waiting room because she schedules everything out so perfectly that you're next. And you walk in, everybody there knows your name and you get your hour with her and you get to talk about everything you've ever wanted to talk about. You can ask all the questions you want to talk about. She's asking you all the questions.

How does the membership model work for you?

The WAE Clinic has a different kind of model than what I'm used to. You pay a certain amount every month and then you have, like, complete and total access to the clinic and to Susan as your provider. You can email her, you can text her through the app. She helps you with all your symptoms and you get, like, this personal provider like you've never had before.

Frequently asked
