The interview

What was your business process like before working with Up with Ivy?

I was dealing with a very scattered system and process for booking keynotes. I didn't know what I was doing on the business side, so I would answer emails back and forth, maybe 10 to 15 times, trying to find time slots. I was also posting erratically on social media without any rhyme or reason.

How did Up with Ivy change your client booking and website experience?

They created a process through my website so my clients could go in and fill out a form. By the time they filled out that form, I already had an appointment booked and populated onto my calendar. They built my website so clients could see what I offer for keynotes, and it's now a very clear roadmap where everything is at their fingertips.

How did they assist with your marketing and social media strategy?

They helped me market my ecosystem and brand, boiling it down into weekly posts that felt structured and deliberate. They created pillars for my business and what I want my audience to take away; from those pillars, I aligned my content and set up a daily posting schedule with their guidance.

What was the overall experience of working with the Ivy team?

It has been one of education. They know exactly how to structure the administrative side of my business, which I didn't know how to do. They also built a system for my newsletter so I could finally get it out to my subscribers. They taught me the things I need to do to keep my business structured so I can focus on creating content and delivering keynotes.

What specific results have you seen since the launch of your new site?

I have seen a major impact. My videos are all in one place now in my speaker's reel, which is what people want to see when they hire speakers. I have noticed I have a lot more subscribers to my newsletter now because it's an easy, seamless way of clicking on it.

How does your website reflect your personal mission?

My website, simply put, is me. It has the message I want to give to my audience regarding leadership, culture, and disruption. When they go to the site, they hear my voice and see my speaker's reel. It allows them to get a sense of who I am and what I can do before they even meet me.

What advice would you give to someone considering hiring Up with Ivy?

I would tell them that they had a vision beyond my expectations of myself. They helped me find my voice and they are incredibly responsive. They aren't just creative; they are teaching you how to do this on your own.

(VIDEO 1 - UPI - Kristen Ziman - TESTIMONIAL Transcript) Hi, my name is Kristen Ziman and I am a retired recovering police chief and currently I am an author and an international keynote speaker. Before working with Up With Ivy, I was actually dealing with a very scattered system and process for booking keynotes. So when I began speaking after I retired from policing, I didn't know what I was doing on the business side. And so I would answer emails back and forth, maybe 10 to 15 times, trying to find time slots. And not only that, but I was posting kind of erratically on social media without any rhyme or reason. And when Ivy stepped in, what they did is they created a process for me through my website. so that my clients could go in in a one-stop, fill out a form. That form came to me and by the time they filled out that form, I already had an appointment booked by the client and it was populated onto my calendar. I knew who the organization was. I knew what they wanted me to speak about. And not only that, but they built my website so that my clients could go in and see what I offer for keynotes. And then they helped me market. my ecosystem, my brand, what it is I speak about and then boil that down into weekly posts on social media that felt, really very structured and very deliberate versus scattered. And so they created pillars for me, for my business and what I was trying to achieve and what I want my audience to take away. And from those pillars, I just aligned my content. to that and we set up a posting schedule every day and with their guidance they helped me with content. And so everything just got very organized very quickly when I started working with them. My overall experience in working with Ivy has been one of, education first and foremost. just the idea that they know exactly how to structure the administrative side of my business, which was the thing I didn't know how to do. They also helped me put a newsletter together. So I have a good deal of subscribers and I didn't know how to get my newsletter out to them. So they built that system for me. so the working with them, they've taught me all of the things that I need to do to keep my business structured. so that I can focus actually on creating content and delivering great keynotes. I have seen a major impact with the launch of my new site because my videos are all in one place now, which is my speaker's reel. And when people hire speakers, that's what they want to see. They want to see what I offer as a keynote speaker. What do I talk about? What topics? What do I offer them? And On my website, it is just one click on the homepage. takes them to wherever it is they want to go. Do they want to work with me as a consultant? Do they want to work with me as a keynote speaker? Do they want to follow my blog and sign up for my newsletter? It is a very clear roadmap. And as a consumer or someone coming in and just looking at my website, it has everything right at their fingertips, precisely what they're looking for. And I have noticed I have... a lot more subscribers to my newsletter now because it's an easy, seamless way of clicking on it, as well as my clients who want to book me for keynotes. If someone was sitting on the fence trying to decide whether to hire Ivy as their marketing team and their partners, I would tell them simply this. Not only did they have a vision beyond my expectations of myself, They helped me find my voice. And not only that, I would choose them because they are so very responsive. And that's honestly why you wanna work with them as well, because they're also teaching you how to do this on your own. And so for all of those reasons, not just their creativity, they were truly passionate about finding my voice, which I thought was so refreshing. (VIDEO 2 - UPI - Kristen Ziman - GIFT Transcript) Hi, my name is Kristen Ziman and I am a former police chief and I am an author and an international keynote speaker. My mission is to take my 30 years in law enforcement and crisis leadership and bring that experience, those lessons learned, the failures, the successes, and bring them to audiences everywhere. I talk about disruption, disruption in our personal lives and our professional lives. in a positive way because we can't change things, we can't change and challenge the status quo unless we challenge ourselves and our organizations and that is what is going to elevate both our personal and our professional lives. My website reflects my mission because my website, simply put, is me. It has the message that I want to give to my audience when a client goes to my website. and reads what I offer for my keynotes, whether it's empowering women, empowering leaders, changing culture, disruption, or prevention of the unthinkable for the risk management side of things. When they go to my website, they hear my voice and they see the video of me delivering my speaker's reel so they can see what I bring to the stage. What I hope is the energy that they're looking for for their conferences and their attendees. I think I really understood, as a person who delivers these keynotes, how important it is for a client to get to know you through a website. It's so important, and especially as a consumer, when I go onto someone's website, I judge a company and their services on how they present themselves outwardly. And I don't think I fully understood that until I got my own website and I was able to convey through my own words, through my own communication to my clients, you know, exactly how I think about things and what my mission statement is and what I can bring to their conference or to their organization. So it's so important that they log on and they get a piece and a sense of who I am and what I can do. If people come to my website, the first thing, if they're looking for me as a keynote speaker, the first thing that they should look at is my speaker's reel, which is a collection of snippets of me on stage. You want to make sure when you hire a keynote speaker, not only are they thought leaders, but can they deliver the message to the audience? There are a lot of really brilliant people out there who maybe don't have the ability to give that messaging. So that's the first thing. The second thing I'd love to draw them to is what I offer in my keynotes. And then to get a sense of who I am, there is a tab for a blog where I drop a blog every Monday, religiously drop a blog about what I'm thinking about, what challenges are in our industries and in our organizations, and what challenges we are facing interpersonally within ourselves. And I call them moments of reckoning that we have. That gives people truly an essence of who I am and the kind of thought leadership that I will bring to stages. My website is so very clean and simple on that homepage. If you want to get in touch with me, you can click around it and get to know me. And then there is a contact me button right there, where we will instantly become connected and that little form that they fill out about how I can serve. Their organization is all right there. It comes directly to my email and I will respond immediately. That is one of my superpowers. When I see that messaging come through, I know that this is an opportunity for connection and I am going to jump on it as fast as possible.
