“I've actually noticed that it is super flexible. I, again, was a college student all throughout my time working at Vector.”
“Vector provides an opportunity for people to grow personally, professionally, and financially to any limit that they want to, actually no limit.”
The interview
What was your situation prior to joining Vector Marketing?
Prior to Vector Marketing, I was a high school student working at my dad's business. I was looking for a job after high school, getting into college, and I was just looking for any opportunity at the time. I got a letter in the mail explaining the job description and I was interested because I was looking for work.
What was your financial and personal situation like when you started?
As an 18-year-old getting out of high school, I was just getting through life and trying to figure it out. After joining Vector, I experienced negativity from my family; they didn't understand what I was doing and wanted me to get a 'real job.' I told them to let me trust the process and figure it out on my own.
What made you decide to give the opportunity a try?
The person that interviewed me, Jeremy Blau, made the process very easy. He reassured me it was perfect for college students because I was stressing out at that time. I was willing to give it a try just because he believed in me.
Can you share a specific story about working with a customer?
I was doing a presentation for a couple who had a large Cutco block set passed down from a great-grandmother. They asked to buy a new block, but I told them they could return it to the company for a free replacement. They really enjoyed that honesty; I could have easily sold them a new set, but they trusted me and still buy from me to this day.
What surprised you most about the environment at Vector?
What surprised me is that the people here are so welcoming and provide a supportive environment. Whether you come from a negative or positive place, they accommodate you and want you to feel like part of the team. I've experienced that for the past four and a half years.
What makes Vector different from other jobs you've had?
It is super flexible. I was a college student all throughout my time at Vector and recently graduated last spring. The flexibility accommodated my priorities, with school being number one. I also like being independent; I can build my own business while getting a ton of resources from the company.
What is a specific skill you learned while working here?
A great skill I learned is the concept of networking. Vector allows me to grow that skill by talking to people I know, who then recommend me to others. I was even able to ask for specific networking contacts in fields I was studying, like physical therapy or business, to build a quality network.
Why have you stayed with Vector and turned it into a career?
The key factors are the people and the circle of influence. People like Evan Keller and Jeremy Blau show me the best experiences and are always willing to grow. I know if I put my full focus into this, I can get the best out of the experience because I can prioritize it as my own.
