Stephanie Darling reports that Acta Football transformed her daughter’s game by focusing on soccer IQ and cognitive performance. Despite being 100% online, the program helped her daughter, a D1 prospect, become more calm and collected on the field, developing the ability to problem-solve and visualize next steps independently of coaching styles.

“This is what's going to take your child to the next level, whatever that might be.”
“I love the term soccer IQ because in my child's brain, she sees the field in a way that isn't just, 'I'm out there playing.'”
“It's just making her on the field more calm, more collected.”
The interview
What motivated you to invest in this program for your daughter?
My child is two years out from college and wants to play at a D1 level to get a scholarship. She had the skill, but she needed to work on the soccer IQ. Normal training and practices with her team wasn't really pushing her in the thinking aspects of the game.
How has the program impacted her confidence on the field?
She plays on a few different teams, and depending on the coach, she would start questioning herself. Learning soccer and discussing it, not just being on a field and playing it, really helped her develop confidence, no matter who the coach was. It makes her on the field more calm and collected.
What was your reaction to the program being entirely online?
I really, truly thought learning soccer was actually being out on the field and doing it. When he told me it was 100% online, I was intrigued to think, how is my player going to grow as a player unless she's actually doing it? But focusing on positives and rooms for growth through conversation is just not done elsewhere.
How does the self-paced nature of the program work for your family?
This is one of the easiest programs I've ever seen. It's all your own schedule, which I think is great for all players and families because we all have a lot going on. My daughter can go to school, go to soccer practice, and then check on the program that night. It is no stress for me at all.
What specific changes have you seen in how she views the game?
She's seeing the game in a completely different way. She understands there's more than one way to do something. In her brain, she sees the field in a way that isn't just 'I'm out there playing.' She can start picturing those next steps, and her thinking aspect has grown.
How do the instructors interact with the players during the modules?
They actually wanted her to perform well in her game, and they reminded her of the things they should be working on. They find the positive, but then they help the child themselves build their way up to realizing what would have been a better choice. My child is growing and getting there herself with their guidance.
Frequently asked
Can an online program actually improve on-field soccer performance?
Stephanie Darling was initially skeptical, wondering how a player could grow without being on the field. She discovered that the online format allowed her daughter to focus on the 'thinking aspects' and soccer IQ, which translated to being more calm and collected during physical games.
Is the Acta Football program difficult for busy student-athletes to manage?
Stephanie noted the program is 'extremely self-paced' and easy to navigate. Her daughter schedules her own meetings and completes modules after school or practice, making it a 'no stress' experience for the parents.
How does Acta Football help with player confidence?
The program uses a positive guidance model where players find their own answers through video analysis. Stephanie observed that this helped her daughter stop questioning herself and maintain confidence regardless of which coach she was playing for.
