The interview

Who are you and what organization do you represent?

I'm Jesse Yarger, and I'm the president of the Utah Association for Behavior Analysis, and we put on an annual conference for professional development for behavior analysts in Utah every year.

What challenges did your volunteer-led organization face before using BehaviorLive?

Our organization is exclusively composed of volunteers. Everybody has full-time jobs, they're very busy, and they're still trying to put on this conference. It was challenging to come up with the event schedule, and I think especially getting continuing education documentation out to people who attended our event.

Which BehaviorLive services have you utilized for your events?

In the past, we've used audio and visual. Most recently, we used the streaming service. We've used their in-person check-in service so registrants could come and very quickly get their name badges printed out. We've also used their CEU generator and the feature that helps you design a website for sponsors and attendees.

What impact has BehaviorLive had on your conference attendance?

Our attendance has pretty drastically increased each year that we've used BehaviorLive. So over the last 2 years, I would say that our attendance has about doubled in just 2 years. And this is a conference that's been going on for 16 years.

How efficient is the on-site check-in process with BehaviorLive?

The moment that I realized that we were absolutely for sure using the right platform was when we had an influx of attendees get to our conference, and it was no big deal. It was very easy. Everybody got through the line in about 2 minutes at the absolute most because we had BehaviorLive helping us with the check-in.

How much time does the platform save your team?

I would say BehaviorLive saves us... I mean, it's impossible to tell. But I would say a couple hundred hours, honestly, of labor. We used to do CEU certificates manually, putting in individual names and certificate numbers for 6 or 7 events per attendee. With BehaviorLive, it generates and sends it out for them with almost no effort.

What was your experience with the AV services and technical staff?

We used the AV services in our 2024 conference. The technician was very knowledgeable, very friendly, the quality was great. We didn't have any issues with people accessing or hearing anything. Everything was very clear and very easy to access.

Frequently asked

Is BehaviorLive only for behavior analytic content?

Jesse Yarger noted that while they are very good with behavior analytic content, the platform seems like it could very easily translate into other fields as well.

How does BehaviorLive handle large influxes of attendees at check-in?

Jesse Yarger mentioned that even with a large influx of attendees, the process was 'no big deal' and very easy, with everyone getting through the line in about two minutes at the absolute most.

Can BehaviorLive help a volunteer-run organization save time?

Yes, Jesse Yarger stated that BehaviorLive saves their volunteer-led team a couple hundred hours of labor by automating menial tasks like manual CEU certificate generation.

Jesse (00:00) Anyone who's putting on a obviously they're very good with behavior analytic content, but everything that I've seen it seems like it could very easily translate into as well. OkWhen allowed us to put on the best conference that we've had to date. I'm Jesse Yarger, and I'm the president of the Utah Association for Behavior Analysis, and we put on an annual conference for professional development for behavior analysts in Utah every year. So I've been in the planning events and conference space for about 4 years now. Our organization is exclusively composed of volunteers. And so everybody has full-time jobs, they're very busy, and they're still trying to put on this conference for high-quality learning opportunities for professionals. It was challenging to come up with the event schedule, and I think especially getting continuing education documentation out to people who attended our event. In the past, we've used audio and visual. Most recently, we used the streaming service. We've used their, like, in-person check-in service so registrants could come and very quickly get their name badges printed out, and that's been really helpful as well. We've also used their CEU generator. Our attendance has pretty drastically increased each year that we've used BehaviorLive. So over the last 2 years, I would say that our attendance has about doubled in just 2 years. And this is a conference that's been going on for... 16 years. I think the moment that I realized that we were absolutely for sure using the right platform was when we had an influx of attendees get to our conference, and it was no big deal. It was very easy. Everybody got through the line in about 2 minutes at the absolute most because we had BehaviorLive helping us with the check-in. we take feedback very seriously with our conferences, and with our fields in One of the most popular points of positive feedback has been - pretty consistently over the last 2 years - that we're using BehaviorLive, and it's a lot more smooth all around than what the conference has been before. We use all of the online features, really, that I can think The one I think that's been the most helpful is feature that helps you design a website so that we're able on different information for sponsors, for attendees. The schedule is very easily uploaded. I would say BehaviorLive saves us... I mean, it's impossible to tell. But I would say a couple hundred hours, honestly, of labor. Generating CEU certificates. We used to do those manually. We'd have to go in and put in everybody's individual name, and their certificate number, and all of the different events that they attended. So each attendee might have up to 6 or 7 CEU certificates, and that was very laborious. With BehaviorLive, we just have to make sure that they've checked in on time, and then that generates and sends it out for them with almost no effort. We used the AV services not in the 2025 conference, but in our 2024 conference. The technician was very knowledgeable, very friendly, the quality was great. We didn't have any issues with people accessing or hearing anything. Everything was very clear and very easy to access. Yeah, if somebody were on the fence about or OkWhen I think I would just encourage them to really look into how many hours they're spending, and what their time is actually worth. How much of their time can be spent actually helping people if they're not putting in lot of maybe, like, menial work towards their conference.
