The interview

Can you introduce yourself and describe your condition prior to visiting bVital?

My name is Mary Jo Thompson. I am retired and I live in Eatonton, Georgia. Ever since 2016, I've had Parkinson's. It has gradually, like always, gotten worse. About a year ago, I could really feel that I was going down more than I had ever felt.

What specific symptoms were you struggling with on a daily basis?

I've had nausea just about all day. I had lost my energy; I used to do a lot of aerobics and walking, but I could feel that going away. Sometimes it was kind of hard to even walk to the mailbox and get back. My voice got down to a whisper; I couldn't even sing a lick.

How were you treating these symptoms before finding Dr. Eckel?

I've had pills. Just pills, pills, pills. And I would have the nausea. I would talk to my neurologists about it, and they were very kind and tried different things, but I just really feel like that was making my gut so bad.

How did you discover bVital and what was the initial process like?

I try to look up different things about Parkinson's and Dr. Eckel popped up. I listened to his video and told my husband we should check into it. A little bit later, we got a call that I was a candidate, so they sent us lots of testing, which helped everything.

What specific treatment did you receive and what were the results?

I went there and I got my VSL done for the brain at Brain Camp. It has made a phenomenal difference with me. Even my friends say I just look and feel so much better. I wasn't sure I could continue my water aerobics, but I looked a few minutes ago, and I'm already up to 9,000 steps today.

How would you describe the staff and the care you received at the center?

You get royal treatment. You are their focus. I saw Doctor Wallace and I saw Doctor Lester as well as Doctor Eckel. When they're working with you, you're their focus and nothing else. He is so friendly, so nice, and so forthcoming. His whole staff is just remarkable.

What is the patient experience like at bVital's Brain Camp?
