The interview

What is your history with Compass and what was your recent goal?

Five years ago, I was using Compass to look for a property in Denver, Colorado and Los Angeles, and now Chicago. After working with Compass SE, I was able to find my beautiful house and make it feel like home. I'm just super excited just to transition from LA to Chicago and ready to move forward and make more memories in this sanctuary that I built.

How does it feel to finally be in this home compared to your younger self's expectations?

Looking back to my teenage self, I've always imagined having a home I'm in now. I never thought I would be able to afford to be in a place that I live in, but it's one of those things where a lot of hard work is put into it. It's been a dream come true.

What was your situation before moving to Chicago?

Before landing my dream home, I actually lived in LA. I was a free agent, so I was able to choose my next location, which happened to be here in Chicago. It was a very stressful time for me because it was a lot of things up in the air.

What advice would you give to someone looking for their dream home?

I would just encourage them to one, just be patient. Good things take time. I relied on my agents, Jill and Darrell, who really just helped me find a good place that I would just enjoy living. I think it's important to just kind of survey the areas that you're in. It just speaks to you, and you'll understand what that feeling is once you go through that.

What does 'home' and 'generational wealth' mean to you?

What makes it a home is what you can envision, how your life will be like. Building generational wealth for my family means I work hard now, so my offspring, my children, my future wife can obviously live a great life. It's about setting everyone up for the future and being a great role model.

What are your favorite spaces in the new house?

My favorite room is probably a combination of the family room and living room because I've got a comfy couch and I'm just enjoying company. The second space is my office; it's a way to get away and get work done. Also, I'm a big shoes and clothes guy, so I need as much space as possible to be organized and not cluttered.

How did Darrell and Jill support you during the buying process?

This was my first time using Darrell and Jill at the Scott Group. They eased my nerves and were with me through every little process, from inspection to walkthroughs. Even when I was out of town, they were here to help with furniture deliveries. They've even been to some of my games supporting me in the stands. I consider them as friends as well.

Why would you recommend Compass SE?

I recommend Compass SE because I feel like they're one of the best in the business. Having two of the best real estate agents making this transition as seamless and easy as possible paid dividends for me and my family.

Hi, my name is Kellyn Acosta, and five years ago, I was using Compass to look for a property in Denver, Colorado and Los Angeles, and now Chicago. After working with Compass SE, I was able to find my beautiful house and make it feel like home. I would highly recommend Compass SE because there's no place like home. And they were able to help me find my home. And I'm just super excited just to transition from LA to Chicago and ready to move forward and make more memories in this sanctuary that I built. Looking back to my teenage self, I've always imagined having a home I'm in now. I never thought I would be able to one, to afford to be in a place that I live in, but it's one of those things where a lot of hard work is put into it. But it's been a dream come true. Before landing my dream home, I actually lived in LA. I was a free agent, so I was able to choose my next location, which happened to be here in Chicago. I mean, it was a very stressful time for me because it was a lot of things up in the air. The advice I would give someone going from their first home to their dream home, I would just encourage them to one, just be patient. Good things take time. I relied on my agents, Jill and Darrell, who really just helped me find a good place that I would just enjoy living. And I think it's important to just kind of survey the areas that you're in. It just speaks to you, and you'll understand what that feeling is once you go through that. What makes it a home is what you can envision, how your life will be like, what you're going to do, like, all throughout the house, whether it's the kitchen, whether it's the backyard, where it's the family room. You walk in, you're like, man, this feels like me. This feels like my family will enjoy it. Building generational wealth for my family means I work hard now, so my offspring, my children, my future wife can obviously live a great life. So it's about setting everyone up for the future. And I know that starts now being a great role model and showcasing them things that I didn't experience as a youth. My favorite room in the home is probably a combination of the family room and living room. Cause it's the space that I spend the most time in. I got a comfy couch, watch tv. I'm just enjoying company, just kind of hanging out. And the second space is just my office. It's just a way that kind of get away, get work done. And a lot of thought that went into all the furniture and the pieces that are here in the office. So I spent a lot of time here. One thing I must have to consider this a home. I wanted a good hosting space. So whenever I have family or friends over, there's an area where just have that fellowship in one another. But like, the biggest thing for me, I'm a big shoes and clothes guy. I need as much space as possible. Cause I have quite a bit of stuff all over the place. So it helps me be a little bit more organized. And I can also find some things as well and not be as cluttered. This is my first time using Darrell and Jill at the Scott Group. Like I mentioned before, it was a hectic time for me, but they ease my nerves. They were with me through every little process, from inspection to walk throughs. And even when I was out of town, during times when I needed furniture to be delivered, they made it apparent and they were here to help me with that. So I can't think of enough and I can't even forget to mention they even been to some of my games as well, supporting me in the stands. So interacting with them, getting to know them. And I'm not just a client of theirs, I consider them as friends as well. So that's always a big part of it. I recommend Compass SE because I feel like they're one of the best in the business. Was able to have two of the best real estate agents making this transition as seamless and easy as possible. Pay dividends for me, for my family to transition into this home. I definitely recommend them in particular and the company as a whole, because like I said, one of the best in the business.
