The interview
What is your role and what challenges did you face regarding benefits administration?
I'm Grace Ru Chung, the Vice President of People here at Thrive Causemetics. Coming from a larger company, I always had teams doing total rewards benefit administration. Dealing with leave of absences is something that is newer to me, and the benefit landscape is changing all the time. I'm not as in tune with all the different offerings and providers.
How has CorpStrat assisted you with employee leave of absences?
Samantha has been incredibly helpful in talking to employees directly, being a resource to them, and walking them through the steps. I really view them as my team, as if they were in-house with me because they're handling quite a few of the benefits.
In what ways does CorpStrat support your strategic decision-making process?
CorpStrat has really been helpful—specifically Sarena and Samantha. They are really streamlining it and providing me with all the information and data points that I need for my CEO to get approval on things and look at it holistically. They help me with larger strategic decisions but also with day-to-day administration.
How do you handle employee inquiries when you don't have the immediate answers?
If I don't have the answers, oftentimes I'll send employees straight to CorpStrat. They are very knowledgeable in their space and very hands-on.
What was the outcome of your most recent annual benefits enrollment?
We were coming up on our annual benefits enrollment, and naturally costs go up every year. I worked really closely with Sarena and Samantha to provide my CEO with options—a low, medium, high option with a couple of different benefit providers—to really find the right plans for Thrive Causemetics at a cost that was even better than we had the year prior.
Would you recommend CorpStrat to other professionals?
They are the best in the business. I've already sent a few referrals their way because they are very knowledgeable and they're the best partners out there.
