The interview

What was your life like before working with Dr. Rob Whitfield?

My life was filled with confusion, wondering if I had menopause symptoms, if my issues and my illness that have lasted over 10 to 12 years, if it was just chronic aging. My symptoms were brain fog, extreme pain, depression, skin changes, and the worst GI issues you can ever imagine.

What medical professionals did you see before finding a solution?

I saw myriad physicians from gastroenterologists to rheumatologists to endocrinologists. I was told this was aging, this was menopause, this was autoimmune disease, which I had, which could be a derivative from having my implants in.

Why did you choose Dr. Rob over a local surgeon?

I finally decided to see a surgeon locally, but she would not perform surgery when I was on steroids for my GI issues. I was distraught, and then I heard Dr. Rob on a podcast. It turns out the original surgeon was not going to do the En Bloc, which is where Dr. Rob found cancer cells.

How has the HARP program impacted your recovery?

The HARP program from Dr. Whitfield has helped me so much through my entire journey in preparation of surgery and certainly in my journey now. It is incredibly detailed and he is spot-on on how he handles you before, during, and after explant.

What are the results of your surgery two years later?

I am almost 2 years post-explant, and honestly, you could not imagine how I was then versus now. I'm a new woman, I look different, my attitude's different. I actually want to live because I was so sick. My skin's brighter, my eyes are brighter, and my hair is growing back.

What was your experience with Dr. Whitfield's staff?

Since working with Dr. Whitfield's recovery team, my journey has been amazing. Those women and men on his team are absolutely amazing. They walk with you. Most have been through this process. Their emotions, their care, their attention to detail—it's just amazing.

It turns out that the surgeon that I was originally seeing, she was not going to do the end which is where Dr. Rob found cancer cells. So...
