The interview

Who are you and what does your company do?

I'm Shannon, founder and CEO of Springland Pets, and I'm Gabe, the COO. Springland designs innovative dog gear for pets that are like family.

What challenges were you facing before working with GO Get Made?

We'd been working with factories overseas for a long time, but without being over there, it was difficult to be on the same page and our MOQs kept going up. We were struggling to find new partners to help us expand into new categories and we had some quality issues.

How has having 'boots on the ground' in China helped your business?

It has been a huge value add to catch quality issues early on and remediate them instead of just waiting to receive an entire container. They are proactive; sometimes I'll ask about looking for a new factory and they respond that they have already been doing that.

What was the result of their involvement in your product development?

A lot of our growth has come from new product development, and we couldn't have executed at that pace on our own. I think it would've taken us years to do what we did in nine months, which has fueled a lot of our growth.

How did they handle it when a problem actually occurred?

We had one quality issue and we discovered it a lot earlier than we would've normally. Their expense paid for replacement parts and shipping to us, and Eric literally came to our house so we could go through it together and find a solution.

What is the relationship like with the GO Get Made team?

They really act as partners in the business and have become friends. We joke that we talk to them more than our family and friends—nearly every day. Joe even showed up at our trade show and wore our mascot costume to support us.

Frequently asked

How does GO Get Made handle manufacturing quality issues?

When a quality issue was discovered, GO Get Made caught it early and paid for replacement parts and shipping. Shannon Ross noted that Eric even visited their home in person to go through the product and remediate the issue together.

Can a sourcing agency help with high MOQs and pricing?

Yes, Shannon Ross stated that when she requested specific MOQs and pricing to fit their strategy, GO Get Made successfully made those arrangements with the factory, allowing the brand to lean into their growth strategy.

GoGetMade, they really act as partners in your business, and you're just able to do things so much faster and more effectively than if you're doing it on your own. I've always seen, like, product as the most important part of a business, and I think GoGetMade is just, like, one of the best partners you could have to making sure you're getting the best product that you can in the best way. I'm Shannon. I'm founder and CEO of Springland Pets. And I'm Gabe. I'm the COO of Springland Pets. Springland designs innovative dog gear for the pets that are like family. Before GoGetMade, we'd been working with factories overseas for a long time, but without being over there, it was difficult to always be on the same page with them, and our MOQs kept going up. And we were really ready to grow and come out with new products and new designs, and we were struggling to kind of find new partners in overseas to help us expand those new categories. Yeah, and also we had some quality issues, so having somebody on the ground in China has been a huge value add to catch these issues early on and then remediate them instead of just waiting to receive an entire container. I mean, there's a huge element of trust that goes into these relationships. Basically, our entire business is based on manufacturing. It's kind of like a leap of faith. We felt really confident with, you know, Joe and Eric after talking to them and learning about their experience. But at the end of the day, it is a big risk, and you just wanna really feel confident making that change, and we did. I think I, I could really sense they cared a lot about doing things to best serve our business and our growth. They went above and beyond, showed up in person multiple times, responded to our feedback really well early on. When I kind of made my request about, like, what we wanted in terms of MOQs and pricing, they were able to kind of make those arrangements with the factory, and that really helped us lean into the strategy we wanted to execute in the coming year or two. I think they really felt like partners, like, from the start. I think a lot of times you could hire consultants, and you can tell, like, they're not always as invested in your business. But I, I felt really, like, with Eric and Joe, they were really always acting in a way of trying to find our best, work on our best behalf, even if it didn't really benefit them. And they really came in and I think really acted as partners right from the start, which was an awesome just feeling to get in working with somebody, like, on your product. A lot of our growth has come from, like, new product development, and we couldn't have executed those new products at the pace that we did without GoGetMade if we had been doing it on our own prior. Also, just our ability to do things like different color drops and some of these seasonal collections that we've done, they've been able to turn those around quickly and efficiently. I think it would've taken us, like, years what we did in, like, nine months, which I think is really powerful, and it's honestly changed a lot of our business and fueled a lot of our growth, which has been really cool. We did have one quality issue when we worked with them, and when we discovered it pretty early on, a lot earlier than we would've normally discovered it, we were able to really quickly remediate it. And their expense paid for replacement parts and shipping to us, and then- I mean, Eric literally came to our house ... came to our house, and we were going through it together. Yeah. So, I mean, they were just super on top of it, really, like, responsive, and we got to the root of it, came up with a solution, and kind of moved forward from there. Yeah. There's been a few times where I've been like, "Oh, should we start looking for a different factory for this?" And they'll respond, "We already have been doing that." They're, like, very proactive, and sometimes you don't even have to ask, and they're already, like, thinking that way, and that's kind of, I think, what we were saying in, like, they're really acting like partners in the business. Definitely overall very positive. Like, they've been a huge add to everything we're doing, and we've been able to grow and expand a lot and do things that we couldn't have done without them. They've also just been, like, huge partners and really rooting for us. I feel like they've also kind of become friends, and that's been really cool. I have this story where at our trade show, Joe even came, and, like, we had this, like, mascot, and he, [laughs] he even, like, put the mascot on and, like, walked around. And I think that just shows, like, how much they're invested in us and our company. And we always joke that we, like, talk to them more than we talk to, like, our family and friends because we talk to them so much. Nearly every day.
