“From submitting your final measurements to it being delivered can be within, like, the same week, which I just found crazy.”
“They go into great lengths of details so that the kitchen worktop comes correct to the exact millimeter.”
“They're really affordable in comparison to going for say a quartz or a marble worktop where the price probably doubles, but I would say the quality is pretty much the same.”
The interview
What sets House of Worktops apart from other suppliers you considered?
I think the attention to detail was what set House of Worktops apart from other people that I'd looked at. And also the speed in which it can be delivered. From submitting your final measurements to it being delivered can be within, like, the same week, which I just found crazy.
Can you tell us about yourself and the project you were working on?
Hi, my name's Elizabeth. I am in Liverpool in the North West, and this project was my own residential home. However, I'm now a big fan of House of Worktops, and I've used them in several other of my property projects too.
What was your experience like shopping for a kitchen before finding this company?
Before I found House of Worktops, I just found the whole process of shopping for a worktop, and shopping for just a kitchen in general very overwhelming. There were lots of places that were doing very high quality kitchens, but not worktops to match... or vice versa. I thought I would get my kitchen from this one place, and let me have a look for somewhere that does really good quality but still affordable worktops.
What would you have done if you hadn't found House of Worktops?
If I hadn't have found House of Worktops, I'd have probably gone for the lower-end, budget laminate style. So it definitely wouldn't look as high-end or as quality-based than what this worktop is.
What were your biggest concerns regarding the ordering process?
My biggest concern was the worktop coming in and it not fitting properly or something going wrong with the sizing. And they're so on it to, like, the millimeter. They put my mind at ease during the whole process, and it of course came perfect.
How did the team support you with the technical aspects of the project?
They were also very helpful and very thorough with making sure that I was measuring correctly, and my builder was measuring correctly. They're always there if you need to give them a quick call, even if you need to kind of like do a FaceTime. There was at one point where they kind of checked the space with a video, which was amazing—and at no extra cost, as well.
How does the cost and quality compare to other premium materials like quartz?
They're really affordable in comparison to going for say a quartz or a marble worktop where the price probably doubles, but I would say the quality is pretty much the same. They're waterproof, they're guaranteed for like minimum 10 years.
Which specific product did you choose and why?
The grain is really nice in this one. This is called the Bella Bianca, and it's the compact laminate. I just liked the way as well we've put a little bit of wood in here as well just to, kind of, add a little bit more of a traditional part to go with the complimenting contemporary worktop.
Frequently asked
Will my custom worktop fit correctly if I measure it myself?
Elizabeth Warburton was initially concerned about sizing errors, but House of Worktops provided thorough guidance for her and her builder. They even offered a FaceTime video check of the space at no extra cost to ensure the measurements were accurate to the millimeter.
How long does it take to get a custom worktop delivered?
According to Elizabeth, the speed of delivery is exceptional, often arriving within the same week that final measurements are submitted. She described this rapid turnaround as 'crazy' compared to other suppliers.
Is compact laminate a good alternative to quartz or marble?
Elizabeth found that the Bella Bianca compact laminate offered a similar quality and high-end look to quartz or marble but at roughly half the price. She noted the material is waterproof and comes with a minimum 10-year guarantee.
