The interview
Who are you and what is your professional background?
Hi everyone, I'm Ellen. I am from Toronto in Canada and I am a naturopathic doctor.
What was the biggest problem you were experiencing prior to working with Clinician Business Labs?
The biggest problem that I was experiencing was that I was quite burnt out and I didn't know how to solve the problem. The only strategies that I knew were to work less time to reduce workload. But if you're billing fee for service, like we do in naturopathic medicine in Ontario, then reducing hours also means you make less income.
What made you decide to join Clinician Business Labs despite any hesitations?
It was because of the strategies that CBL could teach and it seemed to match the problems that I was struggling with. With any new thing that you choose to attempt, there's always hesitation because it's new, which means I had to wrestle with thinking about things a different way. I had to be open that there was going to be things that I had to learn.
What was your biggest breakthrough after joining the program?
My biggest breakthrough is that there were many other options for me to explore. I really appreciated the approach in that it wasn't a standard, this is the exact step you would take no matter where you were. I was able to reduce the time and still make income the way I wanted to when I first joined CBL.
What specific goals or milestones were you able to achieve?
I filled my practice to the capacity that I wanted it to be filled. I am no longer taking new patients. And I branched out and did other things in my business. Very related to what I've learned in CBL with respect to marketing and building a brand, now I help other people do the same.
How would you describe your experience with the CBL team?
The CBL team is great. They're very responsive. They don't leave you hanging. And I felt that I got the support the way I needed. They were very approachable and very helpful, and then they would help me bridge whatever gap that I needed.
What advice would you give to someone who is on the fence about joining?
If you don't learn something new, you won't be able to change where you are, whether that is trying to fill your practice or your practice is so full. It's not something that you're going to sit and read up online and figure out on your own. Having the guidance and the help is really, really helpful and really, really important.
