The interview
What health problems were you experiencing before working with INDIGO?
I had different areas of problems. I'd say I had gastrointestinal issues, I had skin issues, I had gained weight and couldn't lose it for the first time in my life. I had seen specialists for each and everybody was trying to help me out with a single issue, but nobody was looking at the holistic picture. I really suffered for about three years prior to finally finding Indigo.
What made you feel comfortable working with INDIGO?
Snejana didn't want to just know about my ailments. She wanted to know about my family history, current factors in my environment, who I lived with, and what my future goals were. It was a very comprehensive conversation that also cared about what I was eating. I felt really at home and comfortable with her being like my coach in solving my health problems.
Was there anything that almost prevented you from getting started?
There is skepticism around functional medicine and some of the tests that she was suggesting. But I knew that I was looking for solutions around what I could do, and no other doctors had been able to do that, and they had wasted a good few years of my life.
How has your health changed since working with INDIGO?
The change is pretty drastic. I realized I was at a point where I wanted to have a baby, but my body didn't. After working with Snejana Sharkar and the Indigo team, I found out that I had Hashimoto's, which contributed to my thyroid, my hormones, and my gut health. I got the medical help that I actually needed and three years later, I was actually able to conceive and have a baby boy.
What makes INDIGO different from other doctors you have worked with?
They're very relationship-based. I consider Snejana more than just a doctor; I consider her a mentor. It's not just a 15-minute appointment where she's checking the box every single time we connect. There is a lack of bureaucracy, the people are great, and it is very energy-focused with a holistic perspective.
Why would you recommend INDIGO to others?
I would recommend Indigo because it's the first solution I actually found in my health. Everything else was piecemeal and was part of a larger system or a process, but this was the first opportunity that I really had to partner in fixing my health.
Frequently asked
Is functional medicine a legitimate solution for chronic health issues?
Rosemary Piech Belinky admitted to having skepticism around functional medicine and the specific tests suggested by INDIGO. However, she chose to proceed because conventional specialists had failed to provide solutions for years, and she ultimately found the medical help she needed.
How does INDIGO differ from conventional medical specialists?
According to Rosemary, INDIGO avoids the 'piecemeal' approach of specialists who only look at single issues. The clinic focuses on a holistic picture, including family history, environment, and spirit, rather than just checking boxes in a 15-minute appointment.
Can INDIGO help with fertility issues related to thyroid health?
Yes, Rosemary found that her inability to conceive was linked to Hashimoto's affecting her thyroid, hormones, and gut. After working with Snejana Sharkar and the INDIGO team, she was able to conceive and have a healthy baby boy.
