The interview
What are the biggest benefits you've experienced since working with Dr. Traci?
The biggest benefit is my general level of relaxation from day to day. As a software entrepreneur starting more than one business at the same time, I thought constant stress was just part of being an entrepreneur. I found techniques to tremendously calm my nervous system, even in the face of all these demands. I've had positive feedback from people around me; one woman said I've literally become more attractive because I'm able to be more present.
What health issues were you dealing with before starting the program?
I was dealing with a few difficult health issues. I started getting pretty bad hypoglycemia in mid-2023. Along the way, I saw a lot of different health practitioners, and no one was really able to figure it out. Eventually, I got decently bad anxiety and I started having a hard time word-finding, which made it difficult to coach people in our business at the level I'd like to.
What was your experience interviewing other health practitioners?
The biggest issue was I wasn't sure who was qualified to actually fix this. Everybody you talk to says they can handle it. I talked to practitioners that wanted to charge quite a bit for a long-term package, but I didn't know if they could fix the problem. When I met Traci at a personal development event, I could tell her intelligence was off the charts and she had a commitment to facts, data, and integrity.
What other protocols had you tried in the past that didn't work?
One of them was the Carnivore Diet—stop taking all supplements, take organ meat pills—and that very much didn't work. A few other protocols made some difference, but they weren't actually getting at what the core issue was.
What did you find valuable about the structure of Dr. Traci's program?
Once I made the commitment, I didn't have to constantly think about whether I should pay for more sessions. It's not a great incentive structure when a physician bills per hour because there is an incentive for the patient to schedule as few meetings as possible. It was easier to just have a flat rate for the length of the program so I could get as much care as I needed.
Was there anything that surprised you about the process?
She actually got me to do things that I had historically resisted, like breathwork. I've hated it my entire life and think it's boring. She took quite a bit of time on one of our calls to show me a technique that was the most powerful thing I've ever experienced. It had an enormous effect immediately on my nervous system, and I now do it every day, usually twice a day.
Why would you recommend Dr. Traci to others?
I would recommend her because of her incredibly vast knowledge and intelligence. There hasn't been a question I've asked that she hasn't been able to answer or go find an answer to. I've never had a situation where Traci isn't able to go as deep with me as I need to. I've also already recommended her to several people as it is.
Frequently asked
How do I know if a functional medicine practitioner is qualified to fix complex health issues?
Ryan Sobel initially struggled with this uncertainty after interviewing multiple practitioners. He chose Dr. Traci Potterf because of her 'off the charts' intelligence, her commitment to facts and data over anecdotal evidence, and her willingness to research the core science behind her suggestions.
Is a flat-rate health program better than hourly billing for chronic conditions?
Ryan found the flat-rate structure at Inner Genius Health valuable because it removed the 'adverse incentive' to schedule fewer meetings. He noted that once he committed to the program, he could get as much care and conversation as needed without worrying about the cost of individual sessions.
Can breathwork actually help an entrepreneur who finds it boring?
Despite hating breathwork his entire life, Ryan adopted a specific technique recommended by Dr. Traci that had an 'enormous effect immediately' on his nervous system. He now integrates it into his life twice a day, finding it essential for staying calm amidst business chaos.
