The interview
What was your life like before finding the Powter Weight Loss Academy?
I was someone who had probably tried every diet, health, weight loss regime out there. I was a Weight Watchers person multiple times over, Jenny Craig, Keto, and intermittent fasting. I really was someone who lived in that weight loss purgatory where it was always on my mind. The size of my body was always on my mind, and it was not a positive image. Going into my closet was one of the worst parts of my day, trying on things that didn't fit and hating the way I looked in the mirror.
How did you feel about your weight compared to other areas of your life?
I had been so successful in so many other parts of my life, with my career and my family, and this was like the last frontier that I couldn't conquer.
How did you discover the program and what made you decide to join?
I found the Powter Weight Loss Academy very serendipitously while scrolling through Google one evening. What made me say yes was a combination of meeting Jennifer and reading her books. I was very skeptical, but I got sent PDFs of her two books and nodded my head almost the whole time to what self-sabotage and diet purgatory looked like. She gave me enough confidence that she was an expert and I was ready to try a new approach.
What surprised you most about the program?
What surprised me the most was how well it worked, to be honest. It sounds simple—I've lost 35 pounds and it hasn't been that hard. It's a new way of thinking about food and nutrition that ends up becoming just how you live your life.
How has your life changed since losing the weight?
Going into my closet isn't scary anymore and going shopping isn't scary anymore; I just went shopping and had a blast trying on clothes. I have some events coming up that I am looking forward to and not bringing into them the dread of what I am going to look like.
Why is this weight loss experience different from your previous attempts?
It's not just about the outcome, it's about the process. I believe that it will help me not only continue my journey with weight loss, but from a maintenance standpoint, this will be the last time that I go through this again.
Why would you recommend Jennifer Powter to others?
I would recommend her because she has a program that is scientifically-based, that is customized, and works from a science perspective. She has built a community and a set of content that will help you with your journey. I have recommended it to many people for whom it has also worked.
Frequently asked
Is the Jennifer Powter Weight Loss Academy effective if other diets failed?
Yes. Samantha Adams had tried Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Keto, and intermittent fasting without permanent success before finding this program. She notes that this approach works because it focuses on the process and mindset, not just the outcome, making it sustainable for maintenance.
What if I am skeptical about a new weight loss program?
Samantha Adams was initially very skeptical as she had never heard of Jennifer Powter. However, after reading Jennifer's books and identifying her own patterns of self-sabotage in the text, she gained the confidence to try the scientifically-based, customized approach.
How does Jennifer Powter help with body image and confidence?
Samantha Adams reports that the program removed the 'dread' of getting dressed and looking in the mirror. She transitioned from hating her reflection to having a 'blast' shopping for clothes and looking forward to social events without anxiety about her appearance.
