The interview
What was your health status before starting the program?
I actually thought I was a pretty healthy person. Eating what I thought was the right stuff, exercising, going for my walks, doing all the right things but I was also in chronic pain. Daily joint pain, daily headaches, had a lot of brain fog, didn't sleep very well. I thought it was just my genetics.
What led you to finally contact Dipa and start the program?
I do have rheumatoid arthritis, so I got to a point where my doctor wanted to put me on medication and my brother's like, 'just call, just message her. Just see if there's anything she can do.' Because the medications are quite aggressive for rheumatoid arthritis and it's something that I really just didn't want to get to that point and I was pretty much there.
What were the clinical results after starting the program?
I think I was eight weeks through my program and I had another follow-up with my rheumatologist and she said my inflammation was gone. Just going to the doctor and her saying that it's gone and then I don't have to be on medication was the greatest gift ever.
How has your understanding of your body changed?
I stopped paying attention to the pain because it was always there. Now, I understand my body, which I didn't do before. Just being able to wake up and say, 'oh, my joints are hurting today. What did I do yesterday? What did I eat yesterday? How did I sleep?' And now I know what my triggers are.
What other benefits have you experienced besides pain reduction?
With reducing inflammation came the weight loss which I didn't really think I needed but I clearly needed it. And with that, the brain fog is gone. My mood, my energy has increased. I've even gone off my ADHD medication because I don't feel like I need it to get through my day.
Frequently asked
Is the Living Light program only for weight loss?
No, Nisha Sawh initially didn't think the program was for her because her primary concern was pain management rather than weight loss. She discovered it is a comprehensive lifestyle program that addresses inflammation, mental health, and overall skill-building for a lifetime.
Can holistic health help with rheumatoid arthritis symptoms?
Nisha Sawh used the program to address the root causes of her rheumatoid arthritis when her doctor was ready to prescribe aggressive medications. After eight weeks on the program, her rheumatologist confirmed her inflammation was gone, allowing her to avoid the medication.
Is the Living Light lifestyle sustainable long-term?
Nisha noted that she had seen results from others in the program stick for years and years before joining herself. She describes the program not as a temporary fix, but as building skills and a lifestyle that is 100% worth the effort.
