Overcoming Nervous System Dysregulation to Achieve Weight Loss and Mental Clarity

Get the tools to fix it, you know? And everybody around you sees it. I didn't tell many people what I was doing, but they're just like, "You know, you always lit a room up when you came in, but now it's like beaming." And they're like, "What are you doing?" You know, "What... How are you losing weight?" And I'm like, "Well, it's not just that." Yeah, it's a bonus and awesome and you feel good, but it's just like mentally and physically, it just, when it all combines, it's just like you can't even explain it. It's... feels so good. My name is Brandy Pouchet, and I'm in Allen Park, Michigan, and my profession right now is full-time mom, full-time wife. I clean residential and construction areas. Um, I was already on my own journey, but I needed to dot the I's and cross the T's. Um, my blood pressure was high. My sleep was rough. I was just unhappy with my weight. I was almost 200 pounds. I lived this way for so long, you just kinda became, like, used to it or like this is how it's gonna be. My kids are older, so I can take care of myself now and put me first, and it was hard to do that too because being s- selfish is weird, and it still is, but I'm learning that it's okay. Marriage wasn't the best, even though we've been together, like, 22 years, but it's like, 'cause I was trying to figure out myself and I had all these elements. Try to be the happiest, healthiest person I can be, and show my kids, like, "Hey, you wanna do this before you're 45?" I'm 46 now. You have to get to the root of the problem to figure out everything else, and getting to that root sometimes is not fun to get to. What made me wanna start it is because, like, I was idling. Like, I did the best I could and could not figure out what else to do. So I know Jessica personally. She was my gynecologist for years. And I was like, "You know what? That's what I'm gonna do." I'm gonna contact the most smartest person I know and everything, so I contacted her, and she's like, "You would not believe what I'm starting." The thing that almost prevented me from doing it is I wasn't ready to be selfish, and it costs money, and it's not cheap. But if you want it bad enough, you'll figure it out. Jessica always told me it was my fight or flight in my nervous system, and I was like, "You're crazy." Like, I... What does that even mean? And they give you the tools to kinda, like, calm you down. I still [laughs] really need to work on that. There's a lot. It's a work in progress, and it's a forever thing. You know, it's a new way of living and lifestyle, and I can recognize it now and not say, "Okay, you're crazy. Uh, flight or flight does this to you." But your body keeps the sco- score. It's a life-changer because when you feel good and you're understanding what's going on in your body and you don't feel like you're crazy or you're... I don't wanna talk to it, about this to another doctor and re-explain my issues or a friend. It's so worth it. There's so many ways I could say it's worth it. I just... Trying to put it in words is so hard because, I don't know, it's just you feel joyful and you get to fix it.
