From Chronic Pain to Running 25 Miles Weekly with My Lyme Doc

Looking at the opportunity of working with a specialist like this who can teach and educate you is a very empowering thing to have in your court. I find that to be very invaluable. Being able to do all the things that I wanted to do previously is best part of this experience. Hi, my name's Erica. I'm from Saratoga Springs, New York. I was constantly struggling with lack of answers, also lack of attention from various different doctors. I run two companies, and I'm a mom of two young kids. Every ailment I had was dismissed as being part of that. I was referred to the Lyme doc, and it was like from the beginning, obviously a different experience because I believe they're used to dealing with people who are in a similar situation to mine. Right off the bat, it was like, "Yep, we've heard this story before. We know what that's like. We're here for you. We can support you through that." And it was very comforting. I uncovered or they helped me to uncover more than I had anticipated, right? Like I knew that I had Lyme. I didn't know that I had mold poisoning and issues with my sinus tract. There was a lot more than I had anticipated, and because of that, the journey was more extensive. And then like obviously the gut health that goes along with all of that was heavily impacted. And also now I'm so much more educated on if I'm feeling a certain way, like what it's tied to out of those challenges that I was dealing with previously. When I first started chatting with the Lyme doc, I had two very young kids at this point. I think I had just had my daughter. I said, "I can't get up and down off the ground with my babies." I've always been healthy, active. I did ballet for twenty years. At the time I was in my mid-thirties, and now I'm able to do that. I run like twenty to twenty-five miles a week, which I couldn't have even fathomed doing back then. Now I know what I need to do to get out of that and get back to living my life again. My Lyme doc is just so much better than any other option out there, right? Knowing that you're not going to be dismissed is comforting to begin with, coming from an industry that sadly has shifted and this experience allows you to feel comfort in knowing that's not going to happen. I often see people online sharing stories similar to mine prior to working with my Lyme doc, where they found out they have Lyme or they find out they have some sort of gut health issue or whatever it is, and they're like frustrated and exhausted and struggling to get through everything that they need to be getting through in the day. And like that is the kind of individual that I would immediately write to, whether I know them well or not, and say, "Hey, this might work for you. It worked really well for me. Keep your mind open to what it could look like because my life has changed completely, and that could happen for you as well."
