The interview

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working as a therapist?

When I'm not a therapist, I enjoy spending time with family, I'm a foodie, I love trying different restaurants around the area and eating different foods and I also enjoy laughing. Laughter is the love language that I live by.

What are your specific areas of focus and experience?

My areas of focus are sex therapy, I work with emotionally focused couples therapy, I also am a trauma and grief counselor. I've been with Perspectives Center for Holistic Therapy for two years now.

What can clients expect when they work with you?

What clients can expect when they work with me is an environment where they can be themselves, be true, authentic, a space where they don't have to hide who they are or mask and they can be free to share whatever it is that they desire that they need help with or that they want to discuss and talk about.

Why are you passionate about being a psychotherapist?

I get to help clients in their life journeys, exploring who it is they want to be, where it is they want to go in life if things aren't suiting them, figuring out how can they adjust and change in order to get to that optimal level that they want to be at.

What therapeutic approaches do you use with your clients?

I am an existentialist through and through so I like to go deep and dive deep into understanding self and our purposes in life. I also draw from a holistic practice so I focus in sex therapy, I draw in intimacy, I'm an emotionally focused couples therapist as well. I'm also person centered, so I like to focus on each individual client versus kind of pulling from one specific modality.

How do you believe therapy benefits people?

I think therapy can benefit people by allowing them to have an accountability partner, someone that will go along on life's journey with them and allow them to see different Perspectives of where they're trying to get to, what they're trying to change and having someone there to say, okay these are the things that were working on and we want to get to.

What does holistic therapy mean to you?

Holistic therapy, to me means incorporating the mind, body and spirit. Without one the others cannot work so allowing ourselves to understand what's going on within my mind that's affecting my body, that's affecting the beliefs that I have, the narratives that I've grown to live by, so incorporating that all into one versus just focusing solely on the mind.

A little bit about me and why I'm passionate about being a psychotherapist is that I get to help clients in their life journeys, exploring who it is they want to be, where it is they want to go in life if things aren't suiting them, figuring out how can they adjust and change in order to get to that optimal level that they want to be at. Some approaches that I like to use as a therapist and many would say it's not an approach but I am an existentialist through and through so I like to go deep and dive deep into understanding self and our purposes in life. I also draw from a holistic practice so I focus in sex therapy, I draw in intimacy, I'm an emotionally focused couples therapist as well. So I draw in the emotionally focused side and focusing on why we're feeling the way that we're feeling and expressing the things that we're wanting to express with our partners. I'm also person centered, so I like to focus on each individual client versus kind of pulling from one specific modality. I think therapy can benefit people by allowing them to have an accountability partner, someone that will go along on life's journey with them and allow them to see different Perspectives of where they're trying to get to, what they're trying to change and having someone there to say, okay these are the things that were working on and we want to get to.
