The interview
What is your name and what does your company do?
My name is Carol Soman. I am the CEO and founder of Dashboard Enterprises. We serve as an outsourced accounting department to entrepreneurial-led businesses as well as nonprofits. We do everything from fractional CFO work where our expertise is really helping companies find and fix profit leaks all the way down to bookkeeping where our expertise is cleaning up bookkeeping messes.
What challenges were you facing before joining Pinnacle Global Network?
We were doing really well but we reached a point where I felt like something just wasn't right. Great revenue, great growth—was never going to get us to the next level. I knew really deep down that if I was going to continue to scale my business, I needed to fix some of the things that I was doing. The company had to be more than just about me 'cause I knew if I sold the business and it was just about me then it would really have no value.
What was your initial impression of Allison Maslan and the community?
I had met Allison through a trade show and I decided I was going to go to one of her events. So many of the things that she said articulated what I had always felt. The one thing that I never expected was the fact that I have this incredible community of people around me that are like me. We all have the same goals and the same dreams.
How has the mentorship impacted your business strategy and growth?
It gave me a really definitive path on how to grow. Working with my mentor has really enabled me to solidify a real strong strategic vision. Our growth rate, our top-line revenue has grown about 15%, and our bottom line has grown 20%.
How has your role as CEO changed since joining?
I'm finally being mentored by somebody that's not just a coach; they're business people who understand me. My mentor has really been helping me and getting me out of my comfort zone, forcing me to overcome fears like marketing and videos. Now I'm freed from a lot of the day-to-day client delivery and much more focused on how to take this business to the next level.
What would you say to someone considering joining Pinnacle Global Network?
There's no better investment than investing in yourself and the way you can invest in yourself and your business is to join this network. I've been around a long time and there's nothing else that I have ever seen that even comes close to it. If you don't think you can afford it just do it anyway because the return on your investment will be so much bigger.
