The interview
Who are you and why did you decide to attend the Summit of Love?
My name is Jamie and this is KJ. We just got engaged, and so when we found out about the Summit of Love, we knew that we had to be here to kick off this amazing period of our lives. I saw Annie and Eben at another talk and we were so impressed by them that we decided this was an absolute gift to be a part of this experience.
What has been the most delightful part of the event so far?
The most delightful thing about the event has just been how fun it is. It's really been focused on bringing out the joy, bringing out the love. Like, yes, there's parts that we're touching on, like, where core conflicts are, but it's all held in such a spirit of beauty and love and our togetherness.
What do you think about the other participants and the environment?
I've been really impressed with the caliber of people that are here. It's been a pretty eclectic mix of personalities that over the last several days, you know, kind of growing close with everybody. The thing that stands out to me so much about this container is the quality of the love, the quality of the participants. We are surrounded by truly high-performing, super intentional people.
What is your biggest takeaway or specific tool you learned?
My biggest takeaway has been something called the soothing technique or the soothing mantra, where when there is a breakdown between us, it's basically an instructional step-by-step process to unwind that break in our connection. Because we are human and we do have breaks in our connection, this tool that we were introduced to is going to be invaluable and quick recoveries.
How has this experience impacted your view of your relationship and future?
I just feel so inspired to show up as an inspiration, to use our relationship as this testing ground for new concepts, to be able to bring back everything that we've learned, and then show it to our community. The Summit of Love for me is just a real strong reminder of how I do want to be an excellent husband and how I want to be an excellent teacher to my kids and to my friends.
