Peter Graziano achieved mental clarity and a 35-pound weight loss with Touchpoints180. By treating his symptoms as an acquired metabolic condition rather than a permanent genetic disease, Peter resolved chronic brain fog and anxiety. He successfully used their keto-based framework to gain the energy needed for his PhD research while tapering off psychiatric medications.

The interview

Can you introduce yourself and describe the challenges you were facing?

My name is Peter Graziano, and I live in Providence, Rhode Island. I'm a math PhD student. I was in a fog, I found it difficult to get out of bed to go about my daily life. I was having trouble fulfilling my duties in research and teaching. I was also about thirty pounds overweight, had very low energy, and a gnawing sense of anxiety with difficulty with sensory perception—things being too loud or too bright.

How did you first meet Dr. Calabrese and what was that experience like?

I actually met Dr. Calabrese before she started Touchpoints180. I started with her using intravenous ketamine. She was so kind and attentive to me explaining myself, and she was able to integrate everything I told her into a very clear set of explanations of what was going on and how Touchpoints180 could continue to help me. You just relax in her presence.

What made you decide to join the Touchpoints180 program specifically?

I had full trust in Dr. Calabrese. I had worked with another psychiatrist for med management and was not impressed. When Dr. Calabrese said she was opening up new spots for med management if you also joined Touchpoints180, I said, 'Let's try it.' I started working with Rachel as well as Dr. Calabrese.

How did the Touchpoints180 model differ from your previous psychiatric care?

It showed me that you're not broken. In the common med management mindset, it's like you have a genetic disease that will never go away and you'll be on meds for life. The Touchpoints180 model says no, you have an acquired metabolic condition that can be healed and undone, leading to complete symptom abatement, which it did.

What other treatments had you tried in the past that failed?

I tried a litany of different medications, talk therapy, pushing through it, or exercise. None of it helped. Especially with the medications, you just feel awful. It makes you feel numb and weak so you can behave and not be a problem for those around you, but it doesn't make you feel like a person.

What was the most surprising part of the program for you?

Just how good you start feeling when you're in ketosis. That mental clarity and focus that I didn't even realize was possible. After a while, it's not difficult anymore; you see quite immediately that you feel unwell when you stop and better immediately when you start up again.

What specific results have you seen in your life and health?

It's given me the focus and energy to be able to finish the next breakpoint for my graduate school and to actually enjoy myself again. It's given me the structure to work all the way off of the psychiatric medications I was on—I'm in the middle of that process. Also, I am now at a very healthy weight; I lost 30 to 35 pounds while on it.

What would you say to someone else considering Touchpoints180?

If you have psychiatric distress, strange brain fog, or conditions that doctors have brushed off, Touchpoints180 can help you. Dr. Calabrese is the best doctor I have ever met. Everyone needs to know that you don't need to be drugged into oblivion just to be able to function in society. That's not life.

Frequently asked

Is the Touchpoints180 ketogenic diet difficult to maintain?

Peter noted that while the standard American diet makes eating out complicated, the process becomes easy once you feel the immediate benefits. He found that the mental clarity and focus gained from ketosis made the lifestyle shift worth the effort.

Can metabolic psychiatry help with psychiatric medication management?

Yes, Peter used the program to gain the structure necessary to begin tapering off his psychiatric medications. He felt that unlike traditional med management which can make you feel 'numb,' this approach helped him feel like a person again.

What makes Dr. Calabrese's approach different from other psychiatrists?

Peter felt other doctors often 'brush off' strange symptoms or suggest you have a permanent genetic disease. He trusted Dr. Calabrese because she integrated his feedback into a clear metabolic explanation that promised healing rather than just lifelong drugging.

Speaker 0: My name is Peter Graziano, and I live in Providence, Rhode Island. I'm a math PhD student. I was in a fog, I found it difficult to get out of bed, to get out of bed to, go about my my daily life, I definitely was having trouble fulfilling my, like, my duties as is my duties in research and teaching and so on. I was also rather I was also rather overweight, about thirty pounds overweight, and just had very low energy and a, gnawing an annoying sense of, of anxiety with, with, like, difficulty with some, sensory perception, things being too loud or too bright, that, made it difficult to go about my daily life. Well, I actually met doctor Calabresi before she started touch points one eighty. I started with her using for intravenous ketamine, And, she was so kind, so, like attentive to what I was doing, attentive to me, attentive to me explaining myself, and she was able to integrate everything that I told her into a very, very clear set of explanations of what was going on and how and how, first ketamine and then after, and then after that was, successful treatment, how, how touch points one eighty could continue to help me. And like, every once in a while, you go to a doctor and you are absolutely convinced that they know what they're talking about, that they are compassionate but also very certain that they can help you, and you just relax in their presence. And doctor Calabresi is like that. No. I was after I had full trust in doctor Keller Reyes and was like, oh, if you think this can if you think this can help, then by all means, it was also that I had, gone and worked with another psychiatrist for med management and was not impressed, and so when Doctor. Calabrese said she was opening up new spots for med management if you also joined touch points one hundred eighty, then it's like, okay. Let's try let's try it. And so I did, and it was and started working with Rachel for the started working with Rachel for that as well as Doctor. Calabrese, of course. And, it was certainly, it was certainly different, but it also showed me that you're not broken in the way it's common when you're in the sort of med management mindset of psychiatric care that it's like, oh, well, you just have a genetic disease that will never go away, you'll be on these for life. And the touch points one eighty model that, no, it's like this is not just your brain's broken. You are you have a acquired metabolic condition that can be healed, and that can be undone. That will lead to complete symptom like abatement, which it did. And I'm very and so even just the promise of that, I'm like, oh, okay. Might as well give it a shot. And then it yeah. And it worked. And Thank you. It was a rather So things that I've tried in the past that really didn't work were a litany of different medications, of tight up talk therapy, of just pushing through it or exercise or just sort of forget it just sort of forgetting about it of tossing aside various different, various different, like incidental parts of my incidental parts of my life. None of it helped, and especially with the medications, you just feel awful. You just feel awful on them, and you don't feel like it's really any it just makes you feel, like, numb and weak so that you can just go and behave so that you can just go and behave and not be too much of a problem for those around you, but it doesn't make you feel like a person. I'd say that the thing that surprised me the most was just how good you start feeling when you're in ketosis. That mental clarity and focus that I didn't even realize was that I didn't even realize was was possible, and how you could eat what you scratch that. And how and how after a while, it's not difficult anymore. Like, you know what you need to do, and you can see quite immediately that you feel unwell when you stop, and you feel better immediately when you start up again. And seeing how seeing how stark it is and how easy it is was fascinating. Oh, so I won't deny that the requirement to eat keto is a little bit does make things a little bit, like, a little complicated, just because the standard American diet, which you would find anywhere you're not making your own food, is very much not here. But it's worth it and it's given me the focus and energy to be able to finish the next break point for my for my graduate school. It's given me the energy to, actually to actually enjoy myself again. And it's also given me the structure to to all the way off of the of the psychiatric medications that I was on. I haven't finished that process yet. I'm in the middle of it. But even the promise that is And also, I did I am now down at a very, very healthy at a very, very healthy weight. I lost all of the I lost thirty, thirty five thirty, 35 pounds while on it. Thank you. If this is something you need, if you have psychiatric distress requiring medication or requiring medication. If you have the strange brain fog or other mental conditions that doctors have told you, deal with it, and they'd sort of just brush you off. If your life has lost its footing, and you don't trust anyone to be able to help you, and you don't think that it will be put right side up again, Touchpoint one eighty can help you. Doctor. Calabresi is the best doctor I have ever met. And if anyone can help you, she can. You're very welcome. And, yes, please use this for marketing. Like, everyone needs to have everyone needs to everyone needs to know that this is a possibility, that you don't need to be drugged into oblivion just to be able to function in society. That's not life.
