Dr. Mary Ellen O’Brien reports that Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (AAT) has been a successful part of her practice for over 15 years. She highlights a dramatic case where a nine-month-old infant resumed growing after AAT treatments for vaccine and food sensitivities. The program provides specific desensitization tools that complement traditional blood testing.

The interview
How long have you been using the Advanced Allergy Therapeutics program and what is your overall recommendation?
I began using the Advanced Allergy Therapeutic program about 15 or 16 years ago with good success. So I highly recommend the Advanced Allergy Therapeutic program for any office that's working with any patients with health conditions that could improve by working on their allergies; it can be very effective and very helpful for our patients.
What challenges were you facing in your practice before implementing AAT?
Before beginning to use Advanced Allergy Therapeutics I found there were a number of patients that I was seeing that I was able to help their condition to a certain extent but until we treated their allergies it was going to be hard to get them as well as the patient wanted to be, so this program has been very helpful.
How does AAT compare to other allergy testing methods you have tried?
Other things that I've tried with patients as far as allergies is some blood tests for picking up food allergies or other allergies but I found that not all the patients wanted to do that testing. Now I'm able to provide more than one type of testing; I can offer blood testing or Advanced Allergy Therapeutics and give the patient a choice.
Can you share a specific success story or dramatic result from using AAT?
I work with adults and I work with children. I've had one child that was nine months old that hadn't grown since he was two months because of allergies after being vaccinated. We were able to treat him for the vaccination and then some of the food sensitivities he had developed and then he started growing again, so that's been one of the more dramatic patients that I've had.
What other clinical improvements have you observed in your patients?
Other people have had lessening of symptoms such as respiratory symptoms or GI symptoms because of doing their treatments. A number of my patients have had decreased sensitivities to some foods or respiratory conditions which has made their life easier.
How has AAT changed the way you manage your practice and patient results?
My practice has changed some in that I have more tools to offer to patients. Even if the patient was tested with blood tests, sometimes with the AAT we can define what the sensitivity or allergy is more specifically and get better results as well as do the treatments to help desensitize them to what was found on the blood test. I've also had a lot of referrals come in from patients because they've talked to their friends and neighbors.
Frequently asked
How can I help patients who are resistant to allergy blood tests?
Dr. Mary Ellen found that not all patients wanted to undergo blood testing for food allergies. By using Advanced Allergy Therapeutics, she is now able to offer patients a choice between blood testing or the AAT program, providing a more flexible diagnostic and treatment approach.
Can AAT help patients who have hit a plateau with other treatments?
Dr. Mary Ellen noted that before using AAT, she could only help certain patients to a limited extent. She found that until their underlying allergies were treated specifically through this program, it was difficult to achieve the full level of wellness the patients desired.
Is the Advanced Allergy Therapeutics training effective for new practitioners?
According to Dr. Mary Ellen, the initial training provided by the company was 'very good.' She recommends the program to other offices because it provides the tools necessary to get better results and help patients feel better by addressing their allergies.
