The interview
Can you introduce yourself and your role?
Hi, I'm Cass. I'm based from the Philippines and I'm supporting an executive that works in the marketing and advertising industry.
What was your professional background before joining Atlas?
I've worked previously as an executive assistant also, but based here in the Philippines, so it's not like an online job whatsoever. It was just the working environment. It was very difficult to work with different kinds of people, especially with the age gap and all.
Why did you decide to join an agency like Atlas Assistants?
A friend of mine referred me to Atlas. She was working before as a freelancer—she's not any kind of associated with an agency. There's this image of agencies like they cut a big amount to your salary, but when my friend referred me I was shocked. Why would you go back to an agency when you were working directly with a client before? There must be something great about Atlas for you to make that kind of step.
How did Atlas help you transition into your first online job?
At the start, I was very anxious. It was very hard on myself. And then, with all the opportunities that Atlas gave, like for example, the one-on-one sessions with my manager and also with some of the EA support group. That really helped me work with my executive now, just to boost my confidence and give me tips also.
Can you describe a moment where you felt your executive truly trusted you?
There's this one project that my executive included me in, so it's kind of a big deal because it's a client. That was the time that I realized that my executive trusts me. I was also grateful that my executive sees me that I can do that project. I was also very thankful for Atlas for again believing in me and giving me, boosting my confidence to accept those kinds of challenges.
What is your opinion on the Atlas hiring and matching process?
Atlas hiring is actually very meticulous in a sense because I was on the bench for so long, I think that was six months. But then when I got matched to my executive, I understood the whole process of their hiring. I understood why it was that way because my executive and I really are a match when it comes to like energy and mentality.
Frequently asked
Why choose an agency like Atlas Assistants over working as a direct freelancer?
Cassandra was initially skeptical because some agencies take large salary cuts, but she was convinced by a friend who moved from direct freelancing back to Atlas. She found that Atlas provides a superior support system and a focus on the job itself without external distractions.
How long does the Atlas Assistants hiring and matching process take?
Cassandra remained 'on the bench' for six months before being matched. However, she notes that this meticulous process was necessary to ensure she and her executive were a perfect match in terms of energy and mentality.
What kind of support does Atlas Assistants provide to its EAs?
Atlas provides one-on-one sessions with managers and access to an EA support channel where assistants share tips. Cassandra credits these resources with boosting her confidence to handle complex projects for her executive.
