Alex Vohr used Book Launchers to publish 'Leveraging John Boyd's OODA Loop to Build Organizations That Win.' He achieved a professional-grade product through their rigorous copy editing, fact-checking, and proofreading processes. Since launching, Vohr has secured podcast appearances and speaking inquiries, noting that the investment provided a much higher quality result than self-publishing alone.

The interview
What makes Book Launchers stand out in the self-publishing community?
They understand the self-publication community for non-fiction. There's just a trove of videos out there that they have on YouTube that Julie puts out all the time, that are very, very helpful for those who are publishing. They also understand how to work with all of the self-publishing platforms, and they understand the importance of cover design and of things like author bios.
Who is the author and what is the book about?
My name is Alex Vohr and the book that I just wrote is called Leveraging John Boyd's OODA Loop to Build Organizations That Win. It's based on a theoretical model for the way organisms and organizations work within their environment and when competing, standing for Observe, Orient, Decide, and Act.
What was the real benefit of working with Book Launchers during the writing process?
The real benefit of Book Launchers for me is they made my book much, much better than it otherwise would have been. I have seen people who self-published who went directly from content editing—you're going to end up with problems, whether it's sentence structure, word usage, or misspellings. I was totally impressed with the editing; I had copy editing, fact-checking, and multiple iterations of proofreading at the end.
How has the book impacted your career so far?
In terms of what this book has done to move my career, I have done a few podcasts and I've already had some people express interest in having me come and speak to their organizations. And that's more of my goal with this book than anything else.
What marketing support did you receive?
Book Launchers has some really super tools out there. The Author Launch Kit, which they've just put out, is fantastic. It gives great ideas that help with marketing and help you. It's as difficult to market your book as it is to write your book.
Would you recommend Book Launchers to other authors?
I'd recommend Book Launchers to people because they're so immersed in this space. For a first-time author who's looking to self-publish, you just wouldn't know what you're even missing because you don't even know the right questions to ask. Book Launchers has people who do this full-time, who are very experienced in it. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Frequently asked

What are the benefits of self-publishing with Book Launchers vs traditional publishing?
According to Alex Vohr, the biggest advantage of the self-publishing route they facilitate is that the author retains 100% ownership of the book and all rights to it.
How does Book Launchers help with book marketing?
Vohr highlights their 'Author Launch Kit' as a fantastic tool that provides great ideas for marketing. He notes that marketing is as difficult as writing, and their full-time experience in the space is vital for authors who don't know the right questions to ask.
