The interview
Can you introduce yourself and your business?
Hi, I'm Sandy. I came here from Louisville, Kentucky and I run an event in Miami called Biohacker Expo.
How is this event different from others you have attended?
Well, this event is really different because I've become somewhat acquainted with the people in the room but there's never enough time to talk to them. And I really got an opportunity to make friends in this room and get feedback on my business and to offer feedback on other people's and brainstorm about marketing and other things and that's just been powerful.
What did you learn about the needs of other companies in the space?
It has been really, really amazing to get a deeper sense of what different biohacking companies are struggling with and how as an expo promoter I can help serve them better.
What were the main benefits of attending the event?
This event it's such a mix, it's hard to pinpoint one benefit. Being able to interact with people is amazing but also the content has just been phenomenal.
What specific content or topics stood out to you?
What I've learned about AI and some of the ideas about marketing our businesses in the biohacking space so that we get beyond the biohacking space, has been something that I've really been struggling with for a long time.
How are you navigating the challenge of branding within the biohacking niche?
I put 'biohacker' in the name of my company so that I would attract people who knew—but at the same time I feel like it's this juggling act pushing people away or are we bringing new people in. I ran campaigns attracting the biohacking-curious and it's fun to play around with words, but the public doesn't really know what this is and biohacking companies can serve so many needs beyond the hardcore adherence.
