The interview

Why did you choose Dr. Gould as your surgeon?

I had a previous relationship with him from a different clinic and I actually followed him from where he was previously. I had a surgery with him in 2022, and there was no question when I was ready to do my face that he would be the surgeon.

What specific qualities made you trust Dr. Gould for your first surgery?

It was his bedside demeanor, his warmth, and the way he explained things. It made you feel fully aware of what was going to happen before, during, and after, along with the care from his staff.

What were your main concerns or fears before the procedure?

The main thing I was worried about was the anesthetic. I wasn't worried about the outcome or recovery, just the amount of time you're out and under. I talked to Dr. Gould and the anesthesiologist, and the fact that they relax you makes you feel like you're in the best hands.

What was your experience immediately following the surgery?

The first time I saw myself was at the Four Seasons in aftercare. I was obviously really swollen, but I wasn't concerned about the outcome. I'm four months out right now and I'm starting to see where it's going to go and I'm extremely happy.

How does the practice handle post-operative communication?

You're immediately put on a text thread with them. You can text them anytime of the day or night, even with the most inane questions, and they get back to you right away. They have you send pictures to check if things are normal, and I'm still on the thread to this day.

How do you feel about your results and your confidence now?

I feel more like myself than I did before. Dr. Gould told me I look more like I did when he first met me several years ago. I feel more confident because the outer me is reflecting the inner me.

What would you say to someone who is nervous about getting surgery?

I would definitely tell them to just go ahead and do it. My last thought before I went under was that I could still call it off, but that thought was crazy. I don't regret it in any way and I'm just so thankful.

Full transcript

The reason I chose Dr. Gold for my surgeon was I had a previous relationship with him from a different clinic that he was at. And I actually followed him from where he was previously and had a previous surgery with him in 2022. And just, there was no question about when I was ready to do my face that he would be the surgeon. Hello, my name is Arlene. I split my time between Austin, Texas and Los Angeles, California, and I'm a personal trainer. The first time I went with Dr. Gold or chose Dr. Gold for my first surgery that I had with him was just his bedside demeanor, his warmth, the way he explained things. It just made you feel fully aware of what was gonna happen before, during, and after. and then just the care from his staff as well. So before my surgery, the main thing I was worried about was the anesthetic. I was not worried about the outcome. I wasn't worried about the recovery. Just the anesthetic just kind of made me a little nervous. And the amount of time that you're out and under, that was probably my healthy fear. I talked to Dr. Gould. I talked to the anesthesiologist. I explained all my fears. I believe it's healthy to have the fear, but the fact that they relax you, you just feel like you're in good hands or the best hands and that fear goes away. So the first time I saw myself after surgery was at the Four Seasons in the aftercare and I was obviously really swollen but I wasn't concerned at all for what the outcome was going to be and I'm four months out right now and I'm starting to see where it's going to go and I'm just extremely happy with it. post-op with Dr. Gold and his staff, you're immediately put on a text thread with them. You can text them anytime of the day or night, even with the most inane questions, and they get back to you right away. There's a couple little points where I was like, is this normal? Is this normal? Send pictures. know, they're like, send me a picture, and I send a picture. To this day, I'm still on the text thread with them. So I think that is incredible in a practice that is so... large and dynamic like Dr. Gold's to have that one-on-one with a nurse and the other people that are on the thread. Now that I've had my surgery, I don't even know if it's more confident, but I was talking to Dr. Gold and I've known him for several years now and he was like, you look more like you did when I first met you. And I think that's what it is, is I feel more like myself than I did before, if that makes sense. and I feel more confident because the outer me is reflecting the inner me. So when I first met Dr. Gold, there were several other surgeons at the practice, I gravitated towards him. I met with all of them, but I gravitated towards him. He's so kind. He's just a really good man. And you just get that from him if you spend any time with him. And he's done two major surgeries of mine. I'm definitely a patient for life. I'm sending everybody I know to him as well. His work speaks for himself, but his ethics and his demeanor and his personality would bring people in no matter what. That's just something I think is really hard to find in this field. If I was to speak with someone who was nervous about getting surgery or there was something holding them back, I would definitely tell them with, especially with Dr. Gold, to just go ahead and do it. In fact, my last thought before I went under was I could still call this off if I'm one. And then you just wake up and you start healing. And that thought was crazy. But that was what I was thinking because I was nervous. I don't regret it in any way. And I'm just so thankful.
