Al-Karim Makhani reviewed Geobear after experiencing structural cracks and a jamming front door in his North London home. Geobear provided a non-disruptive geopolymer injection solution that delivered immediate results, allowing the front door to close naturally for the first time in months without the upheaval of traditional foundation work.

“The recommendation, at least from the surveyor, was that Geobear would be faster, less disruptive, and actually... a much better solution than going into the foundations.”
“Our front door, for example, closed naturally, which it hasn't done for many months, and so immediately there was an impact on the way the house was sitting.”
“We had a great experience with them end to end. It ticked all of our boxes.”
The interview
Can you describe your property and when you first noticed issues?
We bought our house in Whetstone, North London, three or four years ago. The interior had been redeveloped and was in pristine condition. About eight months ago, we started noticing internal cracks in different parts of the house, particularly above bay windows, and then a couple of external cracks as well.
What were your primary concerns when you discovered the structural damage?
Our biggest concerns were obviously safety, first and foremost, as we have a young family. But also you read about structural damage to houses and the cost of those things, the amount of time the work takes, and then just the sheer disruption that it could cause.
How did you hear about Geobear and why did you choose them?
We had a surveyor come round who recommended Geobear. The recommendation was that Geobear would be faster, less disruptive, and actually a much better solution than going into the foundations of the house given the level of damage.
What was the assessment and scheduling process like?
There was a little bit of waiting time for the assessment. The assessors looked at the various cracks internally and externally. After that, it was really up to us when we wanted the appointment; there was quite a lot of flexibility in the calendar for Geobear.
How much preparation was required on your part before the work began?
In terms of prep work, it was significantly less than what would have been required for any structural foundation work. In fact, it was very limited in nature, the amount of prep that we had to do on our end.
What was your experience with the Geobear team on the day of the repair?
The communication was very good by email and by telephone. The team that came to do the work was on time and super polite. They were very good at explaining various things and having a look around to make sure there was nothing that we had missed.
What were the immediate results of the geopolymer injections?
We saw the results almost straight away. All the cracks didn't go away, but in terms of the structure, our front door, for example, closed naturally, which it hasn't done for many months. Immediately there was an impact on the way the house was sitting.
Frequently asked

Al-Karim Makhani noted that the prep work was significantly less than what would have been required for structural foundation work. He described the upheaval as minimal compared to the disclosures and time required for traditional foundation excavation.
Is Geobear faster than traditional underpinning?
Yes, Al-Karim's surveyor recommended Geobear specifically because it would be faster and less disruptive. The team was able to fit the appointment in quickly and the results were visible almost immediately after the injections.
Will Geobear injections fix a door that won't close due to subsidence?
In Al-Karim's case, the impact was immediate. He reported that his front door closed naturally right after the work, which it had not done for many months prior to the Geobear treatment.
