Phil Harcus chose Geobear to repair a tipping porch at his Kent home. Using a non-disruptive geopolymer injection process, Geobear successfully reversed the tip of the porch and lifted the concrete slab in a single day. The interview

What was the specific problem you were facing with your property?

The house I live in is fully detached, and about 25 years ago a porch was erected on the front. In the last 2 or 3 years I've noticed that there's been movement on the porch with it tipping forward.

What solutions did you consider before choosing Geobear?

I went on to the internet to look at what I could do to resolve the problem. I did look at the possibility of underpinning but I thought the amount of work involved in that for the porch—the porch size is 3m x 1m—was a little bit overkill. I ended up with three companies who were offering very similar processes for injection.

Why did you ultimately choose Geobear over the other companies?

I decided that Geobear was my preferred option because of the interview I had online with Amil. One of the reasons why I decided to go with them is that they offer an insurance-backed guarantee for their work, which is insurance-backed for 10 years.

What preparation was required before the engineers arrived?

There was some vegetation, there's a hydrangea growing and there was some hotlips and stuff, and they asked that it be cut back to allow their engineers to actually get in and do what they did. I also had to confirm where the nearest trees were and what the trees were so they could assess whether or not the roots were affecting the porch.

How did the onsite work day go?

The guys arrived just after 8 o'clock. We had a discussion about what they were going to do and how they were going to do it. They left here about half past 3 in the afternoon. No mess, no fuss. I couldn't ask for anything else.

What was the final result of the injection process?

I was amazed at the videos, I was amazed at what I was told and I was amazed when the guys came to site and did the injection process around the porch. It actually reversed the tip of the porch, lifted the slab and I still can't get over it, it's absolutely amazing.

Frequently asked

Is traditional underpinning necessary for a small porch subsidence problem?

Phil Harcus initially considered underpinning for his 3m x 1m porch but felt the amount of work involved was 'overkill.' He instead opted for Geobear's injection process, which resolved the movement without major excavation.

How long does the Geobear injection process take for residential jobs?

For Phil's porch repair, the treatment was completed in a single day. The crew arrived just after 8:00 AM and finished by 3:30 PM the same afternoon.

Ella Webber (00:00) I was amazed at the videos, I was amazed at what I was told and I was amazed when the guys came to site and did the injection process around the porch. AND IT actually reversed the tip of the porch, lifted the slab and i'm... still can't get over it, it's absolutely amazing. My name is Phil and I live in the lovely county of Kent in the UK. house I live in is fully detached, and in about 25 years ago a porch was erected on the front of the and the last 2 or 3 years I've noticed that there's been movement on the porch with it tipping forward. So I went on to the internet as one does, to look at what I could do to resolve the problem. I did look at the possibility of underpinning but I thought the amount of work involved in that for the porch, the porch size is 3m x x 4m 1m and I did think that was a little bit overkill. I ended up I think it was with three companies who were offering very similar processes for injection. I spoke to three of them online. decided that geobear was my preferred option because of the interview I had online with Amil. The treatment was a 1-day treatment because from their point of view I assume it was probably a very small job. The guys arrived just after 8 o'clock. We had a discussion about what they were going to do and how they were going to do And I discovered that they both liked coffee. So they were fed with coffee for most of the day. they left here about half past 3 in the afternoon. No mess, no fuss. couldn't ask for anything else. It was just superb as far as I was concerned there was some vegetation, there's a hydrangea going and there was some hotlips and stuff, and they asked that it be cut back to allow their engineers to actually get in and do what they did. so I had to cut that back. had to confirm where the nearest trees were, and what the trees were so they could assess whether or not the roots of the trees were affecting the if I knew someone who had a similar problem to me, then yes, I would recommend them. It's a process, as I say, which I didn't know anything about. I'm glad I've gone for it. one of the reasons why I decided to go with them is that they offer an insurance-backed guarantee for their work, which is insurance-backed for 10 years.
