The interview
What were the initial results you saw after working with Karen Davis?
After working with Karen Davis and her coaching, my business smoothed out and I just had a lot more confidence in what I was doing. She helped me take my business to a new level. I have and will continue to highly recommend Karen Davis because she's very results driven.
What was your situation when you first met Karen?
I had been running my business around 34 years at that time, and we were very successful. But I was just having some challenges. I was also in negotiation to potentially sell my company. There was a lot of questions what that was going to look like, what that landscape was going to be like, how that was going to land with the team and my clients. I was a bit frustrated and lacking confidence in my business decisions.
How did your perspective change after you started the coaching process?
When I first started working with Karen, I was a bit apprehensive, or maybe skeptical. But after working with her for a short period, I understood she's doing this for a bigger purpose. She leans in, she becomes part of your life, part of your equation. Once I got past that silly mistrust on my part and really opened up, we made incredible changes.
What specific tools or methods from the coaching had the biggest impact?
The thing I think I got most out of the Accelerator program was working on daily declarations, which I still use today. It really just sets your day up for success and reminds you of who you actually are. One of the things that I remind myself every day is that: I'm an energized, fun fit force of a human being!
Can you share the specific financial measurables you achieved?
The measurables were fantastic. I was considering selling the company; four years later, I sold it for twice as much as the original offer that I was considering. And my profitability, we focused on bottom line over top line growth. One year I had 150% increase in profitability. If I made $100.00 one year, the next year, after working with Karen, my profit went to $250.
How did the coaching affect your team and personal life?
We were able to give raises to the individuals that work there. Everything worked smoother. Everyone's productivity went up and further engagement with the team. It also helped me prioritize my time with my family. Being a business owner, it's easy to convince yourself that what you're doing for the business is good for the family, but there's times it's important to step away.
Why would you recommend Karen to other successful business owners?
We don't always realize that we're stuck. We're accustomed to being where we are and we're successful. Just because you're good or you're great at something doesn't mean that you can't be better. She helps you find that inside of you and helps create the desire to take that step further in life or business.
