The interview

Why did you decide to join the retreat with Dr. Quinn?

I wanted to look at some of the things that detract me from enjoying my life fullest and seek a little bit more self-actualization. This wasn't my first one; I've gone to several retreats with Dr. Quinn, including two Ketamine retreats and a different psychedelic retreat previously.

What was your main goal for these sessions?

The main thing was anything that disturbs my inner peace, I wanted to be able to work on, because I want to be able to enjoy the moment in every moment of my life. That was my mantra going into the retreat.

How has the retreat impacted your daily life and focus?

Each one has given me a little bit more focus, sometimes a quantitative leap in that focus. Now, I'm much more aware of having an inner peace when I'm starting my day. If that peace leaves me, I'm aware of it before I get frustrated, which allows me to stop, reflect, and do something about it.

What was different about this specific retreat compared to previous ones?

This retreat introduced sound bowls. It didn't just change the visuals, but it changed the body sensation I had because the sound bowls, chimes, and the way the group personalized it for each of us with personal touch added to the experience in a way I hadn't imagined.

How would you describe the introspective nature of the Ketamine experience?

Working with psychedelics is a way to experience yourself in a manner that is difficult to get outside of the experience. The Ketamine retreat allows a type of introspection that is very difficult to attain with the exception of perhaps years of analysis. It's a faster road, but it's also a deeper road.

Who would you recommend this retreat to?

I would recommend this retreat to people who have a variety of interests, including someone like myself who wants self-actualization to others who have experienced trauma in the past. We could all be in the same group together and benefit from each other's experience.

Frequently asked

How does a Ketamine retreat compare to traditional therapy?

Mitch Perleman notes that the Ketamine retreat allows for a type of introspection that is very difficult to attain outside of the experience, except perhaps through years of analysis. He describes it as both a faster and a deeper road to self-discovery.

What makes the Kore Regenerative Medicine retreat experience unique?

Perlman highlights the introduction of sound bowls, chimes, and personal touch during the sessions. These elements transformed the experience from purely visual to a powerful body experience that he hadn't imagined possible.

Can group settings benefit those seeking personal growth?

Yes, Perlman found the group experience critical because it allowed him to hear why others entered the retreat and receive feedback. He believes people seeking self-actualization and those recovering from trauma can benefit from each other's shared humanity.

Full transcript

Hey, this is Dr. Mitch Perleman. I'm a forensic child neuropsychologist from San Diego, California. One of the reasons I wanted to join the Retreat was to a little bit more of self actualization, really, to look at some of the things that detract me from enjoying my life fullest. What a great venue to be able to work on it! This last Retreat actually isn't the first one that I've done with Dr. Quinn. I've gone to several retreats with Dr. Quinn. All of them have been different. This is my second Ketamine Retreat with Dr. Quinn. I had also done a different psychedelic retreat with Dr. Quinn previously. Each outcome has been enhanced, where I further advanced my goal and what it is that I wanted to accomplish. I love em! One of the things that I had wanted to accomplish, or I should say the main thing, was anything that disturbs my inner peace, I wanted to be able to work on, because I want to be able to enjoy the moment in every moment of my life. And that was kind of the mantra going into the retreat and each one has given me a little bit more focus, sometimes a quantitative leap in that focus. So now, while I am going about my life, I'm definitely much more aware of having an inner peace when I'm starting my day. And each time that inner peace leaves me, I'm much more aware of before I start getting frustrated and then all out of sorts. And it also allows me to stop, reflect and do something about that. The control that I've come to experience over the last several Retreats, to me, has been not only amazing, but it's been critical for this next stage that I'm going to try to enter in with my retirement. This last retreat was incredible! The best one that I had been on for multiple reasons. All the Retreats have music of some sort and music in the psychedelics plays such an important role. It's pretty incredible how the type of music in the background changes the visual effects especially. What was different with this particular Retreat is the introduction of the sound bowls. And what that did didn't just change the visuals, but it changed the body sensation that I had because the sound bowls and then the chimes and the way that the group went around personalizing it for each of us, along with personal touch at the same time really added to the experience in a way that I hadn't imagined. It was very powerful. It was a very powerful visual experience, but it was also a very powerful body experience. And it's that latter that I hadn't experienced before. Working with psychedelics is a way to experience yourself in a manner that is difficult to get outside of the experience. But the Ketamine Retreat allows a type of introspection that is very difficult to attain with the exception of perhaps years of analysis. And it's faster road, but it's also a deeper road. The other thing about the Retreat is that it allows a group experience so you're able to hear other people, why other people have entered the Retreat, as well as to be able to receive feedback from other people at the same time. And the hands of humanity touch us all! And so that's why I would recommend this Retreat to people who have a variety of interests, including someone like myself, who wants a little bit more self actualization to others maybe who have experienced trauma in the past. We could actually all be in the same group together and benefit from each other's experience.
