The interview

Who are you and what is your professional background?

My name is Harvinder Singh. I live in Folsom, California, and I'm a physician by profession. I'm a cardiologist, but I went into obesity medicine and lifestyle medicine and did those board certifications.

What health challenge led you to seek out Dr. Rangi?

I was diagnosed with new onset diabetes in August of 2022—out of blue. I mean, I had no symptoms whatsoever. I've been very active, no real risk factors. I was the last person to expect myself to be her patient.

What was your initial reaction to the diagnosis and treatment options?

Having known whatever endocrinology I knew, I was a little skeptical, you know, all those medications, insulin and all. I thought it would be best to approach the best person in town who can guide me and coach me and take care of the issues.

How would you describe Dr. Rangi's clinical approach?

Her approach is so holistic, looking at the full body. She's a strong proponent of stress reduction in life with different maneuvers, meditation being one of them and positive attitude. It is much more important looking at the root causes of these chronic diseases and how we can best manage them without any undue side effects.

What specific lifestyle changes did you make under her guidance?

Even though I didn't eat too much processed sugars before, after knowing what's going on with me, I just made a U-turn with her guidance and coaching. I learned quite a few things about how nutrition and exercise are really helpful and the logic how exercise helps.

What were the physical results of the 'Lower The Dose' regimen?

Even though I was not obese or overweight, I lost significant amount of weight in the first few weeks, few months of starting the regimen. It was that combination of exercise as medicine, nutrition as medicine, and of course, the medications themselves.

Why would you recommend Dr. Rangi to others?

I will definitely recommend Dr. Rangi because of the approach. She's very honest. She's going to tell the patient, 'this is what we are going to do and patients have their part to play.' I think that honesty is really helpful for both physician and the patient.

What is Dr. Rangi's stance on stress and lifestyle?

According to Harvinder Singh, Dr. Rangi is a strong proponent of stress reduction, utilizing maneuvers like meditation and maintaining a positive attitude as part of a holistic, full-body approach.

I knew her approach in general, and she has been practicing endocrinology for a long, long time, ever since I have known her. And I was the last person to expect myself to be her patient But she actually went through the rationale how it could have happened to me and finally we reached a conclusion that probably I had silent COVID infection. having known whatever endocrinology I knew, I was a little skeptical, you know, all those medications, insulin and all I thought it would be best to approach the best person in town who can guide me and coach me and take care of the issues. I didn't know that she had such a holistic approach to disease process in and then talking to her, I realized that this is probably way better than just prescribing medications and following up labs. Much more important is looking at the root causes of these chronic diseases, and how we can best manage them without any undue side effects and long-term benefits of treating Even though I didn't eat too much processed sugars before, after knowing what's going on with me, I just made a U-turn with her guidance and coaching. And even though I was not... obese or overweight, but I lost significant amount of weight in the first few weeks, few months of starting the regimen. So that approach of, you know, exercise as medicine, nutrition as medicine, and of course, the medications themselves. So that combination of things. Yeah. I'm a cardiologist, but I went into obesity medicine, lifestyle medicine. I read a lot. did those board certifications. and I knew Dr. rangi's interests are similar as mine. So we actually worked as a team come up with the plan so I learned quite a few things about how nutrition and exercise are really helpful and the logic how exercise helps. Diabetes is ever-increasing problem. So I think if the patients can get the proper guidance and course, evidence-based treatment for those conditions, I think they are much more likely to benefit from that. I will definitely recommend Dr. Rangi because of the approach. she's very honest. You know, that is what I like about her. She's going to tell the patient, you know, this is what we are going to do and patients have their part to play. And I think that honesty and is really helpful for both physician and the patient. I have talked to many of her patients some of them even physicians, and we reached the same conclusion that, ultimately this is the approach, not just for diabetes, but for many other chronic diseases,
