The interview

What improvements have you noticed in your daily life?

The range of motion is much better. Just simple things you take for granted, like reaching up into a cabinet to get some aluminum foil—that used to hurt, and now I can do that. It's not a problem.

What is your professional background and how did you find this clinic?

My name is Bill LaHaye, I live in Wichita Falls, Texas, and I am a retired physical therapist. I know Pinnacle and Dr. Schachter because I used to work with him, so I knew of his results.

What specific health challenges were you facing before treatment?

I'd been dealing with shoulder problems—the left more than the right—for darn near 30 years. On my last trip to Costa Rica, I could barely paddle at all, and I go down there to surf.

Why did you choose this specific treatment path over surgery?

When I came back I got in touch with him, knowing him personally and knowing his reputation. We discussed treatment options and his opinion was, let's not do surgery. At 71 years old, recovery time from surgery can be extreme.

Had you tried other treatments previously as a physical therapist?

I tried various forms of therapy—being a physical therapist. I had results that were reasonably good over a number of years, but just wear and tear got ahead of me.

What are your expectations for your next surfing trip?

I know I can paddle all I want and as strong as I want. That's going to happen next time I'm in Costa Rica or someplace where I can surf.

Would you recommend Dr. Schachter to others?

I have recommended it to friends. A lot of my friends do know Dr. Schachter or know of him and know that the results that he gets with these injections is pretty remarkable.

Frequently asked

Is surgery necessary for chronic shoulder wear and tear in seniors?

According to Bill LaHaye, Dr. Schachter recommended avoiding surgery due to the extreme recovery time for a 71-year-old. Instead, they utilized injections that provided remarkable results for his 30-year shoulder problem.
