The interview
Why was it important for you to collect video testimonials?
I think they're the most believable or credible type of testimonial because you can put somebody's quote on your website all day long, but it's just not the same as having the actual person speak from their heart with what they experienced when they worked with your company.
What was your main challenge with video testimonials before using Share One?
They were a lot of work, so I didn't want to do them myself.
How did you discover Share One and why did you choose them?
I found Share One through a fellow business owner who had used them and was bragging about their awesome video testimonials. I looked at what they had going on and I thought, yeah, that's what I need. And if I don't have to be the one doing it, that's even better.
What has your experience been like using the platform?
The experience has been really good. It's been what I needed, which is hands off. I do an introduction and then Share One takes it from there. And when all of the things are done, then I get a link that says, hey, check out your video. And most of the time the video is good to go. And I just say, 'yes, approved.'
Where do you use these video testimonials in your marketing?
We use the videos in a few different places, but the two biggest is on our website, we have a testimonial page. And then in our funnel, when we have a call with somebody or if somebody is asking about particular examples, then we refer them to some of those video testimonial videos that are very specific to their questions.
Do you believe these videos make a difference for your audience?
I do think the video testimonials make a difference. I know for myself, when I watch a video testimonial, I immediately believe that that person is speaking to me and for me. Because we have a very large audience on YouTube, our viewers are used to watching video content, so I think it makes a big difference presenting them with video content that speaks to the things they're wondering about.
Was there anything that surprised you about the process?
I think a lot of people were actually more excited to share their stories than I expected. They've enjoyed the experience and they wanted to give back to the company. I heard from a few of them that they were really happy to share their experience because when they were in the shoes of somebody trying to decide whether to work with us or not, they said they would have loved to have something like this.
Frequently asked
Are video testimonials worth the effort compared to text quotes?
Julie Broad believes video is the most credible type of testimonial because it allows customers to speak from the heart about their experiences. She notes that while text quotes are easy to post, they lack the believability of seeing an actual person share their story.
How much time does a founder need to spend on Share One videos?
The process is designed to be hands-off for the business owner. Julie Broad explains that she only provides an introduction, and Share One manages the entire process until a final video is ready for approval.
Will customers actually agree to do video testimonials?
Julie Broad found that her authors were more enthusiastic than expected, often wanting to 'give back' to the company. They were excited to share their stories to help other authors who were in the same decision-making position they once were.
