The interview

Would you recommend the retreat with Jennifer?

Without a doubt. I would recommend retreat with Jennifer because it is indeed transformational. The setting is beautiful, inviting, and relaxation-oriented, but it also has a kind of spiritual potency.

How did the retreat impact your confidence and fears?

One incident which was a kind of ratcheting up of confidence was our float down the Mangroves. I don't swim and was somewhat terrified, but Jennifer was my buddy and I used a life raft. I was able to just relax and enjoy the clear water, which was a really affirmative experience.

What was the group dynamic like during the retreat?

The women were wonderful. We were a varied group coming from different backgrounds and locations, in various stages of life—some retired, some with health challenges. We were attentive to each other in an atmosphere of protection and sensuousness, willing to share fears and aspirations.

How did the experience change your perception of body image and self-expression?

The retreat did up my sense of body image. Watching Jennifer's sense of play and enjoyment helped me realize that as a professional, I don't have to downplay my appearance. Now, I'm more inclined to wear makeup, jewelry, and silky clothes just to have fun.

What was the most significant spiritual experience for you?

The experience in the Temazcal, a kind of sweat experience where traumas may be released, was a most significant experience for me. It made me think about my inheritance from the indigenous people of the Americas as a 'daughter of the Americas.'

How would you describe the support team at the retreat?

Jennifer's team was absolutely loving and supportive. Any request or question we had was always greeted with enthusiasm, attention, and care. It felt like a very safe space to be in.

Frequently asked

Can I participate in water activities at the retreat if I cannot swim?

Yes. Dr. Sandra Richards, a non-swimmer who was 'somewhat terrified' of the mangrove float, successfully participated by using a life raft and having Jennifer as a 'buddy' to help her relax and enjoy the experience.

Is the retreat suitable for professional women who struggle with self-image?

Dr. Sandra Richards noted that professional women often downplay their appearance due to career focus, but the retreat encouraged her to embrace 'sensuousness' through makeup, jewelry, and attractive clothing.

What kind of spiritual experiences happen at the Tulum retreat?

The retreat includes a Temazcal 'sweat experience' which Dr. Richards described as a significant event for releasing traumas and exploring her heritage as a 'daughter of the Americas.'

Jennifer helped me to get in touch with deepening my spirituality, spiritual practice, and faith. One incident which was a kind of ratcheting up of confidence was our float down the Mangroves. I don't swim, somewhat terrified of, well, how's this going to work? Jennifer was my buddy, thank goodness, and I did know one of those little life rafts. What I found was that I was able just relax and to enjoy the Mangroves, the colors, the water, which is so clear that that was really a affirmative experience. The women were wonderful. We were a varied group of people coming from different backgrounds and different locations in the states and outside the states. We were in various stages in our lives. Some of us are retired. Some had health challenges. think we were, as a group, attentive to each other. Being in such an atmosphere of protection, but a kind of sensuousness of kind of voluptuousness, I mean, it was just wonderful. I think that we were able to enjoy the company of each other and also willing to share incidents or fears or aspirations. The retreat did up my sense body image. Watching Jennifer in particular, not only a sensuousness, but a sense of play and enjoyment and extravagance. And I think a lot of times women, particularly if we're pursuing a professional track, or even women who maybe aren't professionals but have economic constraints, of downplay them. No, I'm headed I need to advance in the profession, and that means that I'm not going to pay a lot of attention to silky clothes that make you feel somewhat sensuous or particularly attractive. The jewelry, the nails, all that sort of stuff. When I came some of my aqua aerobics were teasing me about my fingernails, how I'd gotten my nails done. When there are opportunities in the sense of maybe a party I'm going to be a lot more inclined dress a little bit more makeup, jewelry, just to have fun. There was one experience, especially in the Temazcal, is a kind of sweat experience, where traumas may released. for me, that was a most significant experience, one that I will treasure. For me, one of the things that I had not thought of how I am a daughter of the Americas, because of the experience in the sweat lodge it began to make me think about, well, what have I inherited from the indigenous people of the Americas that I'm not even aware of? Jennifer's team absolutely loving and supportive. I mean, they had a lot of work to do, but any request or question or comments we had were always greeted with enthusiasm and with attention and with care. Also felt like a very safe space to be in.
