Guy Odishaw, a psychophysiologist at Bhakti Brain Health Clinic, uses SNiP Nutrition to optimize patient physiology through nutrigenomics. He reports that the CODE Complex can replace the majority of a patient's supplement stack, potentially reducing monthly costs from $1,000 down to a significantly more impressive price point while addressing specific genetic SNPs.

At a glance

Primary Use Case
Integrating DNA-personalized nutrition into a brain health clinic for metabolic and mental health conditions.
Reported Result
Replaced majority of supplements for clients previously spending $600 to $1,000 per month.
Clinical Utility
Color-coded genetic reports that map indicators to brain networks and physiological symptoms.
I can come along with the CODE Complex and maybe not replace all but I can replace a majority of their supplements and bring their price per month down in a really impressive way.
To have a broad based SNiP that is giving us perspective across multiple zones and then we can look into those for indicators that we might be able to map out as having an impact on the brain.
A high quality, customized individual supplement that is working on the epigenetic, to me that was the major change in the industry that I've been waiting for.

The interview

What is your professional background and why did you choose SNiP Nutrition?

I'm Guy Odishaw, a psychophysiologist with a background in orthopedic care and integrated manual therapies. I run the Bhakti Brain Health Clinic in Edina, Minnesota. I chose SNiP Nutrigenomics because they bring a novel solution to market. After 35 years in functional and naturopathic medicine, I saw that the industry wasn't improving as much as hoped, but SNiP's customized individual supplements working on the epigenetic level were the major change I'd been waiting for.

How do you use the genetic reports in your clinical practice?

The comprehensive genetic reports are very helpful because we work with a large variety of metabolic and mental health conditions. Having a broad-based SNP report gives us perspective across multiple zones. We can look for indicators that map out as having an impact on the brain, which helps us optimize physiology through neuroimaging, neurofeedback, and neuromodulation.

What makes the CODE Complex formulation useful for your clients?

I find it useful for the breadth of micronutrients in the formulation and the fact that it is customized based on the individual's genetic SNP. It provides a very good base that fills in for much of what's missing in the average person's nutritional intake, combining broad-spectrum nutrients with specific ones targeted to their genetics.

How does SNiP Nutrition impact clients with complex needs, such as neurodegenerative conditions?

For my neurodegenerative clients—those with dementia or Parkinson's—they might be on 14 different supplements spending $600 to $1,000 a month. I can come along with the CODE Complex and maybe not replace all, but I can replace a majority of their supplements and bring their price per month down in a really impressive way.

How would you describe the usability of the SNiP reports for both clinicians and patients?

The reports are as simple but technically correct as you could ask for. They are color-coded so a person at home has a sense of what is concerning or not. They include summary reports that highlight the main genetic SNPs to focus on. For me as a clinician, I can look through various stages of complexity to follow a thread from a client concern to the deeper genetic detail and scale that up to the physiology.

Frequently asked

Is genetic SNP nutrition actually effective for clinical use?

Guy Odishaw admitted his initial feeling regarding genetic SNP and nutrition was 'iffy' after 35 years in holistic health. However, he found SNiP Nutrition's approach novel because it provides a high-quality, customized individual supplement that works on the epigenetic level.

How complex are the SNiP Nutrition genetic reports for patients?

Odishaw describes the reports as simple but technically correct, utilizing a color-coded system so patients can immediately see what is concerning or not. The reports include summary boxes that highlight the most important genetic SNPs to focus on.

Can SNiP Nutrition reduce the cost of a supplement regimen?

Yes, Odishaw notes that neurodegenerative clients often take 14 different supplements costing up to $1,000 monthly. He uses CODE Complex to replace the majority of those supplements, bringing the monthly price down in an 'impressive way.'

I'm Guy Odishaw. I'm a psychophysiologist and my background is in orthopedic care primarily integrated manual therapies. I've got a number of clinics, but my main clinic is Bhakti Brain Health Clinic here in Edina, Minnesota. I've chosen to use SNiP Nutrigenomics in my practice because they bring to market a novel solution. So I've been in functional medicine, holistic health, naturopathic medicine for about 35 years and I ran one of the biggest integrative clinics in the country and we had naturopathic doctors and functional medicine doctors and traditional chinese medicine doctors and what I saw in the functional medicine space was not as much improvement as we all hoped would happen. And my feeling of kind of the area of genetic SNP and nutrition was just iffy. But when I met Kim and heard about what she's doing with her company, this idea of the genetic SNP, that's not all that novel but it is really the product that she's bringing to market, so a high quality, customized individual supplement that is working on the epigenetic, to me that was the major change in the industry that I've been waiting for. SNiP's comprehensive genetic reports are very helpful for us in the clinic, we cover large variety of conditions in that we work with metabolic conditions, we work with mental health conditions any number of physical or mental and so to have a broad based SNiP that is giving us perspective across multiple zones and then we can look into those for indicators that we might be able to map out as having an impact on the brain, for example, so in our brain clinic where we're going to do neuroimaging, neurofeedback, neuro stimulation or at home neuromodulation to be able to help a person optimize their physiology, so working at a genetic level to shift the physiology, we just find it's an incredibly useful piece for a more holistic treatment but again for us to be able to look into the report that just gives a nice lay person description but then a more medical description so that both our client can look at it and understand it and see themselves and my clinicians can look at it and see what's relative to the symptoms and networks that we're treating in the brain clinic. So I find the CODE Complex useful for a number of reasons, one is just the breadth of the micronutrients that are in the formulation, that the formulation is customized to the individual based on their genetic SNP. Along with that they get a very good base that just fills in for much of what's missing in the average person's nutritional intake. So we've got a very broad spectrum nutrient and then specific nutrients based on that person's genetic SNP. And for many of my clients particular if I think about my neurodegenerative clients, my dementia, Parkinson's down that track clients they might be on 14 different supplements, they might be spending $600 to $1,000 a month on their supplements and I can come along with the CODE Complex and maybe not replace all but I can replace a majority of their supplements and bring their price per month down in a really impressive way. The reports that SNiP offers are about as simple but technically correct as you could ask for. They have the color coded, so as a person at home getting your report and you're looking at it you have a sense of what's not concerning, what's mildly concerning, what's more concerning, so it's color coded, so that's simple. Add in several summary reports where they'll have a box that simply says this is what's important for you to know and they'll put the main sites, the genetic SNP's in that box, this I should be slightly concerned about and in a sense everything else you cannot worry about. My clients get it immediately and then also they make it simple for me as a clinician to be able to look through the report in various stages of complexity so I can follow a thread from might this be a concern with my client, whats the deeper detail? and put together a network from the genetic standpoint that I can scale up from there to the physiology and then again if it's in the brain clinic what's happening in the brain or what would we predict is likely happening from the genetic level and showing up as impact in the brain and I can find all of that by just sorting through the different reports.
