The interview

What was your life like before working with Transformative Listening?

I was holding a tremendous amount on my own as a single mother to five children and running multiple businesses with 15-plus employees and hundreds of clients. I had a tremendous amount of abuse as a child and a very traumatic marriage for a long time, so I was holding all of this trauma in my body and feeling an intense amount of pressure.

What motivated you to try this specific practice?

One of my kids was really struggling, and I reached out for them. I was coached that if I did the work, they would heal. I had been doing self-development since I was 18 and worked with multiple EMDR therapists, but I was hungry to find the thing that would alleviate the pressure in my body and help me be the leader I'm called to be.

How did you first encounter Transformative Listening?

I met Ilya at a huge event and got to know his energy. We ended up talking, and he offered a 30-minute session. What we got done in that 30 minutes was one of the most transformative moments I've had, which led me to trust him enough to fly to New York City for a 15-hour immersion.

What was the impact of the 15-hour immersion format?

It was like we got through 10 years of therapy in one day because it wasn't a cutoff where they say, 'Okay, I'll see you next week.' Because it was still going, the next layer could unfold, and then the next layer, and the next layer. I woke up the next morning with the deepest relief of my life.

What was a standout moment during the session?

It took 15 hours for me to feel comfortable enough for them to hold my hand. In that moment, it felt like they witnessed everything I'd been through with love and adoration. It was life-changing because, for the first time ever, I felt safe to be all of this.

Frequently asked

Is a 15-hour immersion more effective than traditional hourly therapy?

Yes, according to Keira Brinton, the immersion format prevents the 'cutoff' experienced in weekly one-hour sessions. This allowed her to peel back multiple layers of trauma consecutively, resulting in progress she equated to ten years of traditional therapy.

Can Transformative Listening help with the pressure of being a high-achieving single mother?

Keira Brinton found that the practice alleviated the 'tremendous amount of pressure' she felt while managing five children, 15 employees, and hundreds of clients. It provided a space where others could 'hold' her intensity, which she had previously carried alone.

How do I know if I should try Transformative Listening?

Keira suggests that if you feel inspired to go, your soul has already agreed to it. She notes that while the experience cannot be fully explained, it must be experienced once for the realization of safety and support to 'come online.'

What was so surprising to me was how impactful it was to have two humans hold the space for my intensity. I've never actually met anyone who could hold the intensity that actually lives within me. And so to feel two people be able to like, "We got you," and like, "We actually have you for 15 hours," was the most healing experience I've ever had. My name is Kira Brinton. I live in Star, Idaho, and my profession is I am a book publisher. I am a author coach, and I'm also a producer and host for TV. Before Transformative Listening, I was holding a tremendous amount on my own. I am a single mother to five children. I run multiple businesses, and it's a very lonely road, and there's like a l- not a lot of humans in my life that I have to help me hold my existence. And on top of that, I had a tremendous amount of abuse as a child, very, very traumatic and intense marriage for a very long time. And so not only was I, like, holding my single mothering, and I'm holding my, um, you know, 15-plus employees, and I'm holding hundreds of clients, I'm also was, like, holding all of this trauma still in my body. And so before I worked with Transformative Listening, it was intense how much pressure I was feeling. Most mothers would probably agree that doing something for yourself is not the easiest thing, but if it's for your children, you'll move mountains. And one of my kids was really struggling, and I reached out to Transformative Listening for them, and I was actually coached, like, "If you do this work, they will heal." And then all of a sudden, I had this very deep inspiration hit me. It was my child that needed help that made me say, "Okay, I'm gonna do this work." I mean, I've been doing self-development since I was 18. I've worked with multiple EMDR therapists. I mean, I've done my work on my trauma. I'm always hungry to find what is the thing that's going to, number one, alleviate the pressure in my body but, like, also, like, help me be the leader that I'm called to be. So I'd done a lot of work, but nothing has worked at the level that Transformative Listening has worked for me. I met Ilya at a huge event and actually just, like, got to know him and his energy, and it was so beautiful. We ended up talking, and he actually said, "I'd love to do a 30-minute session with you." And what we got done in 30 minutes' time was one of the most transformative moments I've had, and that led me to trust, like, "Okay, I am gonna fly all the way to New York City. I'm gonna do this immersion for 15 hours," because if 30 minutes could make that much of a difference, what would a full immersion do? And that's really how I got into Transformative Listening. I had no idea that I had been holding all of this inside of me for so long. Like, I thought, like, I had done my work, but I had just been carrying it around because no one had been able to hold it. And the thing that I think is so impactful is when we do these therapy sessions, we get one hour with our therapist. To have an immersion where it was a full day, it was like we got through 10 years of therapy in one day because it wasn't a cutoff, and then, "Okay, I'll see you next week." It was like we would get to a layer, and then because it was still going, the next layer could unfold, and then the next layer, and the next layer. And I woke up the next morning, and I went into prayer, and all I felt was just relief. It was, like, the deepest relief of my life. One of the most meaningful moments, and it did take 15 hours for me to feel comfortable enough for them to hold my hand. And at the very end of those 15 hours when they held my hand, it felt like not only have they just witnessed everything that I've been through, they had such love and adoration for me, and I could feel it. And it was life-changing, that moment where I allowed them to hold my hands, and it felt as though for the first time ever, I was safe to be all of this. If someone was considering doing Transformative Listening, I would always say, "Then that means your soul has already agreed upon it." You wouldn't actually feel inspired to go if it wasn't for you. But the other piece that I think is really important is it's not something that can be explained. I cannot explain to you what Transformative Listening is, and you just have to experience it once for it to come online. Indeed, there are humans who can hold the space for me, and in turn, I can do that for others, and that changed my life forever.
