The interview
Can you introduce yourself and your role?
Hi. My name is Ethan Humphrey. I am currently in the Badger division of the Central Region. I did this right out of high school and decided I wanted to do business eventually, as I like the idea of running my own business.
What was your background before joining Vector Marketing?
I was a dishwasher before this. The big thing that's helped me is communication skills and just people skills. I like talking with people, but I definitely was a bit of an introvert, and it's really helped me get more outgoing as well.
How did you first hear about the company?
They actually found me; I got a letter in the mail. They were advertising $21, and as a student, I thought that was pretty good. I didn't know what 'base' was at the time, but I was looking forward to it.
Can you share a story about a successful customer interaction?
I met my best customer at an event in Minnesota. She originally no-showed me for a presentation, but three or four months later, she texted me saying she lost her phone in the ocean and finally found my contact info. She ended up buying a complete set and flatware, plus an extra set, and is working toward a full kitchen.
What do you like most about the company culture?
It's definitely the culture and the people. It's not about clocking in and out; it's about 'locking in for your life.' Everyone is successful and open to helping you. I never experienced a community like this in school; it's truly like a family.
What are the biggest life lessons you've learned here?
Marketing myself and selling myself to people. Also, extreme ownership—taking responsibility and accountability when something is your fault or affects someone else. I've also grown through emotional regulation and learning about myself.
What advice would you give to someone considering joining?
You don't know until you try, and you can always learn something. In Vector, you learn two to three times faster. My manager said this is the place to be if you don't know what you want to do in life because the skills you build will help you become a better person and family member.
Frequently asked
Do you have to buy a starter kit to work for Vector Marketing?
Ethan noted that a major factor in his decision to join was that he did not have to buy anything to start, especially since he was working over Zoom and had no money right out of high school.
Is Vector Marketing a scam?
While Ethan's parents initially expressed skepticism, he decided to try it for himself and found a supportive community and legitimate earning opportunities, including a $21 base pay advertisement.
What kind of skills can you learn at Vector Marketing?
Ethan emphasizes that he learned communication, people skills, marketing himself, and 'extreme ownership,' which involves taking full responsibility for his results and actions.
