The interview

What surprised you most about working with Vision Driven?

What surprised me most is that this stuff works. Dan and I set these crazy audacious goals on a company that was just a seed, and almost 3 years later, we hit every benchmark. We didn't know how we were gonna do it, and Jennifer kept saying, 'don't focus on the how, just set the vision.'

How did your first experience with Vision Driven change your life?

My husband Dan and I attended Jen and Alex's Vision Driven retreat. We had a business where we were high-ticket and working one-on-one with clients, and by going through their retreat, we realized we want to find a business that's a little more scalable. It was at that specific event that my husband got inspired to build our business called Share One.

What were your initial hesitations about the process?

When I first heard about Vision Driven, I thought we're just going to sit around and do a bunch of vision boards, and maybe just write down what we want. I felt like maybe this is something that Dan and I can just whiteboard on our own. But when we committed to the retreat and the whole 3-year vision, we realized we couldn't have just done this ourselves; we needed the real coaching.

How did the coaching continue after the initial vision was created?

Once we finished our vivid vision for Share One, it wasn't over. Jennifer got us on the phone and coached us on how to roll this out to our team, which never even dawned on us. She told us we had to share it with our team, our investors, and even some of our closest clients.

What was the benefit of the VIP planning day?

The #1 benefit was just getting it all out of my cells. When we had our VIP together to plan our next 3 years, Jennifer just wouldn't let us leave a stone unturned. We looked at every little facet of our personal life first, which was great—it was like reverse-engineering our personal goals with our business in mind.

How did the vision impact your company culture and team?

We took our team from all over the country and sent them hand-mailed packets for a total unboxing during our meeting. I really felt like that brought the culture of our company much closer. It gave people the opportunity to lean in and say, 'I want to be a part of that vision' or 'I can help with that piece.'

What specific advice would you give to someone considering Vision Driven?

I would say run, don't walk. Sign up with her, have your VIP day, and just dream a vision bigger than you can ever imagine. Just surrender to the magic of the universe, and I promise you, you won't regret it.

Frequently asked

Can I just create a vision board or whiteboard my business strategy on my own?

Stacey Lievens initially thought she and her husband could just whiteboard their goals alone, but realized they needed real coaching to leave no stone unturned. She found that the Vision Driven process provided a level of depth and professional guidance they couldn't have achieved independently.

How do you share a company vision with a remote team?

Stacey Lievens mailed physical Vision Driven packets to her team members across the country for a synchronized 'unboxing' meeting. This process allowed the team to lean in, volunteer for specific goals, and significantly improved the company culture.

Does setting a long-term vision actually attract investors?

Yes, according to Stacey Lievens, who reported that after setting a three-year vision to find investors, two different investors approached the company unsolicited within a single month, stating they believed in the founders' direction.

Stacey Lievens (00:00) What surprised me most about working with vision-driven, this stuff works. It works. Dan and I set these crazy audacious goals on a company that was just a seed. and almost 3 years later, we hit every benchmark. We didn't know how we were gonna do it. And Jennifer kept saying, "don't focus on the how, just set the vision." And as soon as we did it, we were just like, okay, we'll just go about building our business, building our business. And all of a sudden, all these benchmarks were getting hit. Hi, my name is Stacey Lievens. I live in Austin, Texas, and I am the co-founder of Share One. My first experience working with Vision Driven changed my life. my husband Dan and I attended Jen and Alex's Vision Driven retreat. We were, at the time, had a business where we were high-ticket, and we were working one-on-one with clients. And by going through their retreat, we realized we want to find a business that's a little more scalable. So it was at that specific event that my husband, specifically, got inspired to build our business called Share One. When I first heard about vision driven, I thought, well, we're just going to sit around and do a bunch of vision boards, and maybe just like write down what we want. And I just felt like maybe this is something that maybe Dan and I can just whiteboard on our own. But when we committed to the retreat and then we committed to the whole 3-year vision, we realized... wow, we couldn't have just done this ourselves. We needed the real coaching. I knew Vision Driven was right for me when I knew that we had Jennifer in our hip pocket. Continuing to have her coaching has been so helpful. In fact, once we finished our vivid vision for our business share one, it wasn't over. She got us on the phone, coached us on how we can roll this out to our team, which that never even dawned on us that we would share this with our team. We just thought it was a little document for the two of us to kind of put on our wall that we could be reminded of our vision. No, she said, "you've got to share it with your team. You've got to share it with your investors. You can even share it with some of your closest clients." Imagine a world where everybody is on board with your vision, and that wasn't even a possibility. The #1 benefit I got from working with Jennifer at vision driven is just getting it all out of my cells. You know, when we had our VIP together to plan our next 3 years, Dan and I went there and she just wouldn't let us leave a stone unturned. We looked at every little facet of our personal life first, which was great. So it was like reverse-engineering what our personal goals were with our business in mind. I'd say the overall experience working with Vision Driven was really positive to our team. We took our team from all over the country, and we sent them packets. sent them - we hand mailed our vision driven packets to them. And when we had the meeting, we had them open - like, it was a total unboxing. And I really felt like that brought the culture of our company much closer. And we gave the opportunity for people to lean in and step up and raise their hand and say, "hey, I think I can help you with that piece. I want to be a part of that vision. I'm excited about these articles that you want to have written about your company." So there was this one part of our vision that we set 3 years ago that we wanted to have investors in our company. believe it or not, last year out of nowhere, we got an investor that says, "I believe in you guys." we weren't even looking for it. It just kind of landed in our laps. And then within a month, another investor came to us and said, "would you like more support?" And so, like I said, vision paid off. thank you again, Jennifer, for helping us just put it out into the universe so we can sit back and receive. if I were to give anybody advice about working with vision driven - and specifically Jennifer for coaching, I would say run, don't walk. sign up with her, have your VIP day, and just dream a vision bigger than you can ever imagine. and just surrender to the magic of the universe, and I promise you, you won't regret it.
