The interview
How would you describe your overall experience at the retreat?
This Transformational Retreat with Jennifer has been phenomenal for me, and incredibly, transformational. It's opened me up to me a lot more. And I have been able to dump stuff that I was carrying around that wasn't mine to carry at all.
What internal shifts did you experience regarding your identity?
I had layers and layers of other people's opinions of how I should be and who I should be and what I should be, which obviously never really felt or sat at ease with me. So I hid. I did a lot of hiding and playing small and certainly not speaking. Through the retreat and the incredible processes we did, I really feel I was able to shed those beliefs and those patterns and thought patterns which were not mine.
How do you feel physically and emotionally after the program?
I feel like I have more strength in my spine, more weight to my feet on the ground. I sort of feel I've landed. And I feel that my authenticity flows. For me, being amongst women was amazing. I loved it, and it was for seven days, and all I ever felt was loved and supported.
How has this impacted your relationship and your view of yourself as a woman?
When I returned from the retreat and saw my husband, I definitely felt much more feminine. The difference, I felt was that I wanted and needed and deserved to be seen and respected as a woman. So it has definitely changed things.
What specific changes have you noticed in your self-image?
One thing I've noticed with my self image is that I had a pattern of self criticizing whenever I saw a part of my body be on the mirror or just looking at it, and I would criticize it. And now I notice I don't, which is a big change for me. I'm much more loving towards it and appreciative of it, which is massive.
Which part of the retreat was the most challenging or transformational?
Each of the excursions were transformational for me. I guess the one that was the most transformational was the one that I had to play most full out, and that was the Temascal. It was all so professional and honoring and safe to really let myself be very, very vulnerable. And so I did work that I knew I had to do, which was enormous.
What was your biggest breakthrough regarding your fears?
The biggest thing that had held me back up until now was a huge fear of speaking. I could speak one to one, but not publicly. And I did end up standing up with a microphone, which to me, was something I never thought I would actually achieve.
