The interview

What is the main reason you would recommend Beth Byerly for leadership support?

Beth approaches things in a holistic way. It really provides an opportunity to focus and recognize the stressors and initial responses while also developing healthy responses and collaborating within our team. I found that it helps both personally and professionally.

What was your professional background before working with Beth?

I had my master's in nursing education and I had obtained my doctorate in nursing leadership as well. I'd also had trainings in mindfulness, in resilience, and was trained as a wellness ambassador. I had transitioned into a faculty role in a different environment, working with students and faculty in different ways than I had before.

What specific challenges were you hoping to address?

I found that I was still sometimes struggling with recognizing when I was being triggered by something. I really wanted to identify some new methods when I'm triggered, and to be able to recognize that better so that I could have better relationships with both my students and my colleagues.

What convinced you to work with Coach Beth?

A big part of that was there were a couple other colleagues that had been working with her already. I saw and heard from them the impact that that had, and that really helped me to put some faith into Beth. She was also incredibly positive, consistent, and supportive every time I'd meet her.

What outcomes have you achieved since working with her?

I am able to identify when I'm being triggered and the saboteurs are impacting my response to things. I'm also able to recognize that with others when they may be triggered. Working with Beth has influenced our morale, cohesiveness, and effectiveness.

What was the most surprising thing about the experience?

How open and vulnerable, and also honest our pod was able to be by learning these techniques and applying them. We were really able to get to know each other and build really solid working relationships and friendships.

What observable changes have you seen within your team?

There's a sense of calm despite any chaos that may be happening. There's a greater sense of being more open to a variety of ideas, and a willingness to consider other ideas, and overall just more acceptance of each other. We've had barriers with hiring positions, and we've been able to pull together and identify the things that need to happen.

Kelly Hendricks (00:00) The main reason that I would recommend Beth to people that are needing the leadership and development support would be that Beth approaches things in a holistic way. It really provides an opportunity to focus and recognize the stressors and initial responses while also developing healthy responses, and collaborating within our team. I found that it helps both personally and professionally. I find myself instead of always instinctively responding as a mom. Like, sometimes I'm able to kinda pause, and have a better conversation with my adult son. And that's been really beneficial as well. Hi, I'm Dr. Stacey O'Brien. I live Carolina, and I'm a professor of nursing. Before working with Beth, I had my master's in nursing education, and I had obtained my doctorate in nursing leadership as well. I'd also had trainings in mindfulness, in resilience, and was trained as a wellness ambassador. I had transitioned into a faculty role. And I really wanted to identify some new methods when I'm triggered, and to be able to recognize that better. So that I could have better relationships with both my students and my colleagues that I'm working with. it even impacts working with the hospitals and colleagues outside of the college. What really led me to be convinced to work with coach Beth, a big part of that was there were a couple other colleagues that had been working with her already. And I saw and heard from them the impact that that had, and that really helped me to put some faith into Beth. She was also incredibly positive, consistent, and supportive every time I'd meet her. since working with Beth, some of the outcomes I've achieved is I am able to identify when I'm being triggered, and the saboteurs are impacting my response to things. I'm also able to recognize that with others when they may be triggered. I think probably the most surprising thing about working with Beth was how open and vulnerable, and also honest our pod was able to be by learning these techniques and applying them. We were really able to get to know each other and build really, you know, a solid working relationship and friendships. Some observable changes within my team would be there's a sense of calm despite any chaos that may be happening. There's a greater sense of being more open to a variety of ideas, and a willingness to consider other ideas, and overall just more acceptance of each other. Working with Beth has influenced our morale, and cohesiveness, and effectiveness, I would say all of that. We've had some barriers we've encountered this year with hiring positions that we greatly need, and we've been able to pull together and identify the things that need to happen. We also recognize that truly doing the best they can. And so we're much more accepting and understanding of each other since working with Beth. I would shout out to Coach Beth how incredibly supportive, and open, and vulnerable that she is herself, and that by creating that safe environment, it really allows people to lean in, And... it gives them a better opportunity to help them be who they want to be.
