Steven Heravi of Craig Strong Group highlights that the Strong Mentorship Program enables new real estate agents to close multiple transactions in under three months. Unlike traditional real estate training, the program uses a structured, quarter-by-quarter curriculum that has already resulted in brand-new mentees securing listing business and closing deals in the Sherman Oaks office.

The interview
What is the benefit of the program for the mentors?
The way I see the benefit of the program for the mentors is that the best way to learn is to teach. For mentors out there, when you're out there actively teaching, you are learning. You are itching to get more information and be on the forefront of information so that you can then share that with all of your mentees, plus the fact that you'll have a whole new group of fellow mentors to network and collaborate with.
How does the Strong Mentorship Program help mentees specifically?
The truth is, most mentees at most real estate companies walk around like a deer in headlights. Here with the Strong Mentorship Program, there is an actual curriculum. There is a standard to be held to for the mentors and the mentees. Everybody will know exactly what they're doing. There will be a curriculum quarter by quarter, so you'll even know what you're doing ahead of time. Think of it as like a college syllabus.
What real-world results are you seeing from the mentees?
We're already starting to see a very positive effect there in the manner in which our mentees are engaging with their clients. Specifically, in our Sherman Oaks office, we have had a few of our mentees already close several pieces of business, including listing business with sellers, which is quite remarkable when you're brand new in the business. We had one individual that closed two transactions in under three months, which is phenomenal.
How does this compare to your own experience starting in real estate?
I'll go back almost 20 years. I remember when I was brand new in real estate, I was told that the goal was to close your first two transactions within six months. It took me seven months. So to close two transactions in under three months is remarkable.
What surprised you most about the rollout of the program?
What surprises me most is how much effort was put into the program behind the scenes before it was ever rolled out. Craig and his team put many, many months of work into this program so that it really would be the very best mentorship program in all of real estate. I was a mentor myself about a decade ago, and this blows away anything that I've ever even done myself.
Why is mentorship necessary for professionals?
Whatever you do for a living, if you're a police officer, even after months of the police academy, you're not going to get the keys to the car and just go and drive safely. No, you will ride with a training officer for several months. It would probably behoove most professionals in most fields to ride with a training officer. That is your mentor. I feel sorry for those that don't have a program like this because you're out there blind.
