The interview

What was your overall experience working with Shannon?

Our experience working with Shannon was that she was always incredibly available, really friendly, really took the time to know us, and took the time to check in. She was really focused on getting us into the right house and not just getting us into a house.

Why did you choose to work with Shannon and Elements Real Estate?

We looked at lists of best realtors and Shannon was right up there on the top. Originally we thought we wanted to rent for a while to get to know Atlanta. A lot of realtors said 'Good luck with your renting, come back when you're ready to buy.' Shannon was the only one who said she would help us find a rental in the interim. Her willingness to help with something where she wasn't going to benefit financially immediately meant a lot to me.

How did the process work buying a home from a distance?

We bought our house from a distance, sight unseen. It was really helpful that Shannon was there to check in with us along the way to make the process less stressful. Shannon would visit the house or send somebody who she really trusted to go to the house and take video.

How did Shannon's expertise help you evaluate properties you couldn't see in person?

She offered a lot of expertise in terms of thinking about whether something was normal in Atlanta, which we wouldn't know because we hadn't been there. She helped us know if a backyard was normal or how much storage space was normal, and she affirmed us when we had critiques or didn't feel a house was right.

Did Shannon provide any support after the closing was finalized?

Shannon surprised us constantly by surpassing expectations. After the transaction was complete, she was willing to get a lockbox cut off that the previous owners left. She offered to get our grass cut before we moved in. When the former owners left trash cans full of construction debris, Shannon offered to drive over and take the trash cans out for me because I was having trouble getting them up the hill.

Would you recommend Shannon to others?

I've never encountered a realtor that was so eager and willing to help with any dimension of the process. She just made it much easier than it would have been working with I really believe anyone else to make a decision, find the right place, and then to make the move as seamless as possible.

Frequently asked

Can I buy a house in Atlanta while living in another state?

Yes. Allison Mickle bought her house from a distance sight unseen by having Shannon visit properties and send trusted video footage. Shannon also provided local expertise on what was considered 'normal' for Atlanta backyards and storage to reduce the stress of the unknown.

Will a realtor help me find a rental before I am ready to buy?

While many realtors told Allison to 'come back when ready to buy,' Shannon was the only one willing to help find a rental first to build the relationship. This trust led Allison to feel comfortable enough to skip renting and buy a home immediately.

Does a realtor's job end once the transaction is complete?

For Shannon at Elements Real Estate, the service continued after the sale. Allison Mickle reported that Shannon had a lockbox cut off, offered to have the grass cut, and even personally moved heavy trash cans filled with construction debris after the move-in.

Our experience working with Shannon was that she was always incredibly available, really friendly, really took the time to know us, took the time to check in. she was really focused on getting us into the right house and not just getting us into a house. My name is Allison Mickle. I am an archaeologist. I live in Grant Park now, thanks to Shannon, who I bought my house with. decided to work with Shannon because we were looking for realtors. We looked at lists of best realtors. Shannon was right up there on the top. originally we thought that we wanted to rent for a while before buying. Shannon was the only one who to us and said that she would help us find a rental in the interim and then would help us buy. I will say she was so good that we ended up buying right away. We didn't end up renting at all. But just her willingness to help something where she wasn't going to benefit financially immediately and build that relationship first, that really meant a lot to me. I mean, Shannon surprised us constantly over the course of our relationship. We have bought several houses by now, and so we've come to expect, you know, a certain level of involvement and service and engagement and availability. And Shannon surprised us constantly by surpassing all of those expectations. There were, you know, hurdles and bumps in the road that cropped up that I would have never expected my realtor to deal with. things like the people that we bought the house from ⁓ left a lock box on the property and I was initially struggling to get it removed and Shannon was willing to get it cut off for us and this was after the transaction was complete so you know really above and beyond. She offered to get our grass cut before we moved the first time that I really was like just raving about my realtor to other people, to anyone who would listen. we bought our house from a distance. We bought it sight unseen. was really helpful that Shannon was there to check in with us along the way to make the process less stressful. There ⁓ are so many unknowns when you're buying a house from another state. Shannon would visit the house or send somebody who she really trusted to go to the house and take video. We also appreciated that it never felt like Shannon was trying to rush us into a decision or rush us into a house. one of the ways that Shannon really helped to reduce the stress was by affirming when we had critiques or complaints or didn't feel like a house was right. She offered a lot of expertise in terms of thinking about whether something was normal in Atlanta, which we wouldn't know because we had been there and so knowing if a backyard was normal or how much storage space was normal, the time to recognize what needed to be done about the house ⁓ before we moved in. The former owners filled the trash cans with construction debris and I'm a very small person and I was having trouble getting the trash cans up the hill to put out the trash and Shannon offered to drive and come and take the trash cans out for me and so I mean these are the things she had no obligation to do was not expecting her to like... take her own time and her own money and solve those issues for us. I'd recommend working with Shannon because I... I've never encountered a realtor that was so eager and willing to help with any dimension of the process. she just made much easier than it would have been working with I really believe anyone else to make a decision, the right place, and then to make the move and seamless as possible.
