The interview

What was the situation before you started working with Empowered Endings?

I work with a couple of individuals that require home healthcare, 24/7 care, and I actually manage those individuals and their care. We were in and out of urgent care, hospitals, doctor's appointments constantly, and we just needed somebody to help us navigate and assist us with our needs. We were taking people out of their cozy beds, out of their favorite chair, putting them in cars, taking them to urgent care or hospitals, sitting there for hours.

How did you find Empowered Endings and Dr. Bob?

He came highly recommended to our team through the home healthcare agency owner that we have been working with for years. We reached out and found Empowered Endings, sat down and basically talked with Dr. Bob, and he was fabulous, wonderful. We trusted him right off the bat.

What specific services does the team provide at the home?

Now Dr. Bob comes to us. If we need to do labs, they come to us. If we need a massage therapy or a specialized physical therapist, they come to our house. We have a physical therapist that comes twice a week and we have massage therapists that come visit us. If we need a prescription or if we need any type of doctor care, he can provide that for us.

How accessible is the medical team when you have a concern?

He's basically just a text message or a phone call away. Anytime I have questions, I can just go directly to him. Anytime I have a concern, I know that I can text Dr. Bob, I can call him, and he will get right back to me, and gives me guidance on how to solve the problem.

How has this changed the daily life and mood of the patients?

It makes everybody a lot more comfortable and happy. They actually get up, put on their clothes, put on their makeup when they know that Dr. Bob's coming over. So they look forward to seeing him. It's not just a medical visit each time. It's more of like a personal get to know, trust.

What impact has this had on you as a care manager?

It takes a lot of pressure off, and it allows you to release some worry. I don't want to take somebody to the ER if they don't necessarily need to go. So it just relieves a lot of anxiety and worry from the care team. I wish I had known this years ago, because this was, and is, so helpful to me, to the team, to the family, to everybody involved.

Frequently asked

How do I know when it is actually necessary to take a patient to the ER?

Robin Conn explains that before Empowered Endings, she struggled to know the right time to seek emergency care. Now, she can text or call Dr. Bob, describe her concerns, and receive immediate guidance on whether to handle the issue at home or go straight to the hospital.

Can medical services like labs and physical therapy be done at home?

Yes, according to Robin Conn, Empowered Endings brings labs, specialized physical therapists, and massage therapists directly to the patient's house. This keeps patients in their 'cozy beds' and 'favorite chairs' rather than sitting in waiting rooms for hours.

Is the relationship with Empowered Endings strictly clinical?

Robin Conn notes that it is a personal relationship built on trust; patients even look forward to visits by putting on makeup and clothes to see Dr. Bob. She describes the team as having 'wonderful souls' who engage in personal conversations, not just medical checks.

We were finding that we were taking people out of their cozy beds, out of their favorite chair, putting them in cars, taking them to urgent care or hospitals, sitting there for hours, and we thought, "There's gotta be a better way. There has to be a better way to manage these health issues," and that's where Dr. Bob came in. I thought, we have an opportunity to have our own doctor for whatever we need, whenever we need him. He's basically just a text message or a phone call away. Anytime I have questions, I can just go directly to him. Having to go in just to do labs, give certain samples for whatever infection we might be dealing with, now Dr. Bob comes to us. If we need to do labs, they come to us. If we need a massage therapy or a specialized physical therapist, they come to our house, and it makes everybody a lot more comfortable and happy. Much happier now that we have Dr. Bob and Empowered Endings. He came highly recommended to our team through the home healthcare agency owner that we have been working with for years. We reached out and found Empowered Endings, sat down and basically talked with Dr. Bob, and he was fabulous, wonderful. We trusted him right off the bat, and he comes to visit us a couple times a month, usually every other week, just to check on things. If we need a prescription or if we need any type of doctor care, he can provide that for us, and we don't have to go elsewhere to get it. It's wonderful. I wish I had known this years ago, because this was, and is, so helpful to me, to the team, to the family, to everybody involved. Finally, we're getting the help that we need and the support that we need, and with such a very loving team. Dr. Bob's team is very loving, very supportive, just got wonderful souls, every one of them. We have a physical therapist that comes twice a week. He's wonderful. And we have massage therapists that come visit us. They're wonderful. Everybody's just wonderful. It's just a delight. It makes life just that much better for everybody. Well, they actually get up, put on their clothes, put on their makeup when they know that Dr. Bob's coming over. [laughs] So they look forward to seeing him. They can ask questions. We can ask questions. Family, you know, "What's your family up to? Did you go visit your kids?" So it's not just a medical visit each time. It's more of like a personal get to know, trust. Takes a lot of pressure off, and it allows you to release some worry. Anytime I have a concern, I know that I can text Dr. Bob, I can call him, and he will get right back to me, and gives me guidance on how to solve the problem. We don't actually stay out of the ER all the time. Oftentimes, I didn't know when the right time was to have to take somebody, and now I do, because I can call Dr. Bob, tell him my concern, and he can say, "Do this, this, or get them straight to the ER." It just makes it easier for me to know what to do, because I'm not a doctor. I don't know, and I don't want to take somebody to the ER if they don't necessarily need to go. So it just relieves a lot of anxiety and worry from the care team. If you're thinking about working with Empowered Endings, just do it. I wish I had found them years ago, because they've been so wonderful for our team. Don't hesitate to call. Dr. Bob will come over and have a conversation with you. I guarantee he will be a good fit for you
