The interview

What was your experience with the leadership and research at the Institute of Restorative Health?

Leadership at the Institute of Restorative Health are amazing. You can tell that they are healers, not only how they treat their clients and how you can tell that they love their clientele and their client base, but also how they feed and pour into us. They stay on the cutting edge of research, which I've really appreciated.

What were you looking for when searching for a health education program?

When I was searching for a program, I did filter through many, and I wanted something that was evidence-based and on the cutting edge because that was so super important to me. I wanted to understand how the human body worked. I wanted to be attached to really good research, which this program is.

What was your career and health situation before finding this program?

I was working in Washington, D.C., and I just had this aha moment of like, 'I don't even know if I'm making an impact.' That was colliding at the same time where I was experiencing a lot of health issues myself. I was bouncing from specialist to specialist trying to figure out what was wrong with my gut.

How did the program change your approach to gut health?

It changed the game. Traditional conventional medicine is really great for acute, but for chronic it doesn't solve the problem. When I had gut infections and H. pylori, they put me on really heavy antibiotics and it completely wiped out the entire terrain. The program helped me understand that we can be exposed to toxins, but you become a good host if the terrain is not great. It helped me understand the gut process through symptom presentation and testing so we don't guess anymore.

What specific tools from the program do you find most effective?

One of the key tests that we utilize and run, it's one of my favorites, is the MRT. It's a food sensitivity test, and it's powerful because you're eliminating that toxin burden or the inflammatory burden while you're doing gut work. It's incredibly effective when we have the tools and the knowledge to utilize them in the right way.

How did completing all four levels of the program impact your practice?

As I continued forward going through each level one through four, everything made more and more sense because it was a full picture of not only symptoms, but what could be driving these symptoms to come off balance. I realized I could utilize these tools right away with my clients, and it was a game changer.

What is the community like within the Institute?

I feel so much camaraderie with the group of people that I associate with within the Institute of Restorative Health. They've really cultivated this incredible environment for education, for sharing, for connection with each other and supporting each other. It's not competitive at all.

What would you say to a practitioner considering this program?

If you are thinking about joining the Institute of Restorative Health, I would say don't hesitate. Jump in. It will change everything in your work as a practitioner. I have done my homework on programs out there, and this is the place. I wouldn't be in the clinic I am now making such impact and having the trust of these providers without this education.

Leadership at the Institute of Restorative Health are amazing. You can tell that they are healers, not only how they treat their clients and how you can tell that they love their clientele and their client base, but also how they feed and pour into us. They stay on the cutting edge of research, which I've really appreciated. And by the way, when I was searching for a program, I did filter through many, and I wanted something that was evidence-based and on the cutting edge because that was so super important to me. I wanted to understand how the human body worked. I wanted to be attached to really good research, which this program is. I'm Suzanne Zapetani. I live in Meridian, Idaho, and I'm a master restorative health practitioner. I was working in Washington, D.C., and I remember the moment I was sitting in my office. I just had this aha moment of like, "I don't even know if I'm making an impact. Like, what am I doing with my career?" And that was in collision, kind of colliding at the same time where I was experiencing a lot of health issues myself. And so I was on like the health journey. The same story we often hear is bouncing from specialist to specialist trying to figure out what was wrong with my gut, had massive issues. And so that's what got me to the Institute of Restorative Health, which honestly changed everything. It changed the game. Not only like with what I was doing with clients, but what I was doing with myself and being able to just overcome the gut issues I was experiencing with healing my own gut. And then as I continued forward going through each level one through four, because healing's not linear, so I'm so grateful for the education I received because I'm not only able to help myself and my family, but make huge impact with my clients. The thing with exposures is that every body is bio-individual, and so every body expresses differently. So it's kind of becoming more complex where you have to become a really good detective. Gut work is everything, especially 'cause I'm that gut client. As I came to understand more and more about how important gut health was through the program, it changed everything because traditional conventional medicine and, and it definitely has its place. It's good for both to have its place. It's really great for acute, but for chronic it doesn't. And so it's, it doesn't solve the problem. And so when I was hopping from specialist to specialist trying to figure out what was wrong, and then they finally detected I had gut infections, H. pylori. I brought home some parasites. They put me on some really heavy antibiotics, and I thought, "Well, I should listen to my doc, and I should do that," and I did, and it completely wiped out the entire terrain. And that is really where the secret sauce is. We can be exposed all day long, whether it's parasitic or bacterial or toxins, but are you a really good host? And you become a really good host if the terrain is not great. And mine wasn't because I had wiped out everything with these strong medications. That's when my gut issues got really, really, really devastating. I had to live around my gut. And so it really helped me to understand the gut process and how to, with symptom presentation and also really good testing, that we don't guess anymore. We put together this really good protocol that's very effective. So for example, one of the key tests that we utilize and run, it's one of my favorites, is the MRT. It's a food sensitivity test, and it's powerful because you're eliminating that toxin burden or the exposure burden, the, the inflammatory burden while you're doing gut work. It's incredibly effective, and it's exciting because when we have the tools and the knowledge and also the understanding in how to utilize the tools in the right way, it's incredibly impactful, and it's changing lives. As I started working with the Institute of Restorative Health, I realized that I could utilize these tools right away with my clients, and it was game changer. But then I had these clients that had symptom presentation that was deeper, and the gut healing was amazing because I had clients right away that I could start using these tools with and get them on a protocol of h- actual healing. It was impactful right out of the gates, and that's why I continued to do each level. So when I was able to go through each level, everything s- made more and more and more sense because it was a full picture of not only symptoms, but what could be driving these symptoms to come off balance, and then how we could have the tools to bring them back online so that the person could not only just get those symptoms gone, but to start to feel amazing. I feel so much camaraderie with the group of people that I associate with within the Institute of Restorative Health. They've really cultivated this incredible environment for education, for sharing, for connection with each other and supporting each other. It's not competitive at all. This has been the most amazing education to advance my career. I wouldn't be in the clinic I am now making such impact and having the trust of these providers without this education. If you are thinking about joining the Institute of Restorative Health, I would say don't hesitate. Jump in. It will change everything in your work as a practitioner. I have done my homework on programs out there, and this is the place. And the tools that I've learned here have not only changed my career, but they're changing the lives of the people that I'm working with.
