The interview

What was your life and career like before working with Karen?

My life and career before working with Karen was primarily focused on a background in finance and accounting. I was transitioning to a different field and I was thinking about coaching, and I had a conversation with Karen that actually helped me and guided me into deciding on the coaching profession.

What results have you seen after six years of working together?

Now, six years in the work, I'm running my own business, I have my own clients, I have referrals that are coming my way, and I'm living the book called Prosperous Coaching. I live a life of freedom, I have created amazing relationships with my grandfather, my parents, my wife and my kids, and my friends.

What convinced you to trust Karen and join the coaching school?

She asked me a question that was decisive: 'Do you have anybody in your life who can coach you to ask a client for $25,000 in coaching fee?' That question really stopped me in my tracks. What ultimately made me trust her was her listening skills; she is a very open and convincing listener with an intensity that says 'I'm right here with you.'

What benefits did you get out of the 'accelerators' with Karen?

There was a shift of focus from herself to the client. I got a lot of ideas for how to create amazing clients and better relationships. Specifically, she helped me see my 106-year-old grandfather as a sage in my life. This was one of the biggest revelations for me—to learn how to be with this man and see the value in who he is.

What is something unexpected or valuable you gained from the coaching?

In coaching, we talk about bringing something you're fearful about into the session. I lived this example with Karen, and it was spot on in terms of what could happen when we're not afraid. I can now relax into my life, my wife, my kids, and my clients. When I feel relaxed, I'm very creative, which creates ease and flow.

How would you describe Karen's coaching approach regarding intuition?

Karen leads from a place of intuition and love. She invites that out of me and helps me raise my intuition level so I can use it in my own life and work. She allows this in without shaming it, and when intuition and thinking become parallel, a whole different world opens up.

Can professional coaching improve specific family relationships?

Yes, Cherkis specifically notes that work with Karen helped him transform his relationship with his 106-year-old grandfather, allowing him to see him as a 'sage' and develop the best relationship among all grandchildren.

Hello. My name is Yanush Cherkis. I'm from San Francisco, California. My life and career before working with Karen was primarily focused on background, I have as finance and accounting and I was transitioning to a different field and I was thinking about coaching and I had a conversation with Karen that actually helped me and guided me into deciding on coaching profession. When I came to Karen six years ago, I was transitioning into the coaching world. I had no idea what it would be like, and I was very apprehensive about it. Now, six years in the work, I'm writing my own business, I have my own clients, I have referrals that are coming my way, I'm living the book called Prosperous Coaching that Karen recommended me from day one that we started working together. I live a life of freedom, I have created amazing relationships with my grandfather, my parents, my wife and my kids, my friends and I attribute a lot of this to the work that I've done on myself through the work that I've done with Karen. So I'm beyond grateful for her coming into my life at the time that she did to create this amazing set of outcomes that I could never even imagine six years ago. Thank you, Karen. I love you. I was considering Steve Chandler's coaching school. I thought that I've done so many seminars and workshops before, why do this coaching school? Steve's kind of right hand who administers the coaching school he took a call with me and in that call I still was not convinced and at the end Maurice he said to me, do you know what? I talked to somebody who's done it for five times in a row, I'm like somebody did the school five times in a row? He said, yes I said, sure I'll talk to her. So he connected me with Karen and when Karen picked up the phone a week later, she was leaving her house, she got in the car, started to drive and in our conversation at some point, she said, hold on a second I really need to stop my car because I really need to hear what you have to say and she stopped at the side of the road and we proceeded to speak for the hour and in our conversation, she asked me a question that was decisive question in me joining the school and actually working with her, she said this to me, do you have anybody in your life who can coach you to ask a client for $25,000 in coaching fee? And that question really stopped me in my tracks and I said, I don't think so, you may consider taking the school so I said, okay, got it and then that's why I took the school and that's why we met while we were taking the school together and then the rest is kind of history I've been with her for six years. I would ultimately me to trust Karen was her listening skills. I find her to be very open and very convincing listener. There's intensity in that listening that she's saying, like, I'm right here, I'm not walking away, I'm not with anything else, I'm not on my phone and not with anyone else and I'm looking at any different thoughts I'm right here with you. And I thought that she would be an amazing listener so she can guide me in what I needed to create in my life. Benefits that I gotten out of accelerators with Karen were many. So one, I asked Karen why she attended coaching school with Chandler so many times and she said to me, you know, the first time that I went to see him in person and do the coaching school it was for me because I was learning a lot how to be a coach. Maybe the second time was the same but then after a while, I started paying attention, what else can I take out of the content and apply it to my clients? So there was a shift of focus from herself to the client in my accelerator work not only that I gotten a lot of things for myself after the first couple of times, I also got a lot of ideas for how to create amazing clients, amazing relationships, better relationship with my wife, so it was not only for me about my life and my work it was also about my family, my relationships specifically, one relation comes to mind is with my grandfather. So my grandfather is 106 years old. Six years ago, and Karen really helped me see what is it like to understand him as a sage in my life, somebody who is so wise that he can give me and pass along his wisdom to me and I personally this was one of the biggest revelations for me during the accelerated to learn how to be with this man, how to create a relationship with him, and how to see the value in who he is and I have out of all grandchildren, I have the best relationship with this man. And I attribute that to the conversation and to the listening and to deep work that we've dealt with Karen. Unexpected or valuable that I've gained working with Karen was so a lot of times we talk in coaching is that bring something that you're fearful about or you're afraid about into the coaching session and saying is one thing but actually bringing it in is very, very different from the book how to get the most out of coaching, bring something you're afraid to the coaching session it's actually very true. I live this example with Karen so it was spot on in terms of what could happen when we're not afraid. Some things I can do now after working with Karen for so many years are, I'll tell you the big thing is I can relax into my life and this relaxing means that I can relax into my life, into relationship with my wife, into relationship with my kids, in relationship with my clients and when I feel relaxed, I'm very creative. Creates this ease and flow and that was the primary contribution of what Karen helped me see, that's probably the biggest takeaway that I have. I actually recommend Karen and give her people that in my life who want to be coached so I send them to her. I think she's extraordinary, I think that the work that she's done on herself translates into work that she does with her clients and that shows up in all the coaching sessions. One, I find Karen and she leads from a place of intuition and love and that intuition is something that's so much missing in the world today. Well, we spend so much time thinking but having worked with Karen she actually invites that in out me. Right, so she can help me raise my intuition level so that I can use it and I can experience it in my own life with my work. So I'm just applauding her for allowing this in and not shaming it in any way or not putting it down in any way and when intuition and thinking become almost a parallel level, a whole different world opens up.
