The interview

Can you introduce yourself and your background?

Hi, my name is Denise Vo and I live in Menlo Park, currently. I moved here from Culver City. What I do is, I own a small business that does nutrition, strength training and behavior change. Because I'm a behavior analyst.

How did you first discover SoliVana Wellness Spa?

The reason why I discovered SoliVana is my husband saw that I was shaking a lot. He saw that I was experiencing a lot of anxiety. And he searched up for a place nearby and he saw all the amazing reviews and he said, 'you gotta go see Natasha.'

What makes SoliVana different from other spas you have visited?

SoliVana is different from other spa places because they choose to see you. They choose to get to know your name and they choose to make sure that you feel comfortable. When I'm back in Los Angeles, my husband booked me a few places for cold plunges and saunas, and it was nothing like SoliVana. Just not very connected. However, SoliVana has made me feel very connected.

What is your favorite service at the spa?

The Cold Plunge is my favorite core service. I love being in the really cold water. I love being in the sauna. I love getting to put my earphones on and just like, listen to music. I need to try, though, the float therapy, the energy healing, all of these other things.

What specific benefits have you experienced since starting your sessions?

The number one benefit I experienced has been clarity of mind. When I was booked I was, like, trembling and shaking. I'm no longer doing that. I book my own sessions now. I run outside, I eat, I always have an appetite. I wasn't eating before. I feel very connected to me.

What would you say to someone who is hesitant to book a session?

My recommendation, if someone's sitting on the fence, 'cause I know it feels really, really hard to book something for yourself - especially self-care and especially when you're going through a lot of stuff - is... Mental health matters so much than money or finances - always. Like, just book it.

Frequently asked

Is it worth spending money on self-care when going through a hard time?

Denise Vo emphasizes that mental health matters more than finances. She advises those on the fence to 'just book it' because the personal transformation and well-being outweigh the cost.

How does SoliVana compare to other cold plunge facilities?

Denise found other places in Los Angeles felt disconnected. In contrast, she describes SoliVana as a sanctuary where the staff chooses to see you, learn your name, and ensure your comfort.

What are the physical signs that wellness therapy is working?

For Denise, the physical indicators of success included the cessation of trembling and shaking, as well as the return of a healthy appetite, which she had lost due to anxiety.
